The strategic plan is the result of a collaborative effort among the 66,000 employees of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and its multiple and varied stakeholders. The development of the Strategic Plan included reaching out to multiple internal and external constituents for input, feedback, and ideas to capture diverse perspectives, while identifying common themes for change. A lot has happened since this agency was re-organized into a more nimble department. Please feel free to explore the website, and learn about how this Department was reorganized, and what we plan for the future.
Work Action Plans
As part of CDCR’s overall Strategic Plan, various impacted divisions within the Department are developing Work Action Plans to meet plan objectives for the current fiscal year. The Work Action Plans are necessary to meet the major changes in California’s correctional system made by Assembly Bill 109, the Realignment Legislation signed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in 2011. To learn more about Public Safety Realignment, please visit CDCR's Realignment 2011 website. Please visit this page periodically to view updated Work Action Plans by division.
