Audits and Compliance

Mission
The Office of Audits and Compliance (OAC) safeguards public assets entrusted to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) through evaluative measures to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines, departmental policies, and court mandates.

Vision
OAC conducts timely auditing services and Compliance Reviews with professionalism and integrity and promotes accountability through the most economical and efficient use of departmental resources.

Management Charter
OAC is the central audit and review organization for CDCR authorized to perform Internal Program Audits, Contract and Fiscal Audits, Operational Peer Reviews and Education Program Reviews of adult facilities, juvenile facilities, headquarters and parole offices.  OAC manages operational performance via the COMPSTAT (Comparative Statistics) process.  OAC’s services are dedicated to identify liability exposure, minimize costs, enhance the effectiveness and accountability of departmental programs and operations and further the public safety mission of the Department.  In addition, OAC is the primary conduit in all aspects of the external audit process, critical to the credibility of the Department and its mission.
