Forensic Assessment Division

The Forensic Assessment Division (FAD) provides BPH parole suitability panels with Comprehensive Risk Assessments relevant to understanding a Life inmate's potential for future violence and his or her risk management profile if released to the community. FAD psychologists weigh actuarially-derived and structured professional judgment approaches to risk assessment and incorporate findings from clinical interview and collateral record review. Comprehensive Risk Assessments may include but are not limited to, evaluation of the inmate's commitment offense, institutional programming, past and present mental state, and analysis of static and dynamic risk factors inferred from the inmate's behaviors and relationships, emotions and attitudes, and perceptions and attributions.
