State Selection and Training Standards for Correctional Peace Officers
WHO WE ARE
The State Selection and Training Standards for Correctional Peace Officers (SSATS)
was established in July 2005 when Penal Code responsibility for developing selection
and training standards for designated state correctional peace officer classifications
was transferred to the Corrections Standards Authority (CSA) upon elimination of
the Commission on Correctional Peace Officer Standards and Training. The SSATS is
organizationally placed within the Standards and Training for Corrections (STC)
Division of the CSA. This strategic placement facilitates SSATS' partnership with
a similar standard setting program that supports local corrections agencies and
has been successfully implemented by CSA’s STC Division since 1979.
