Parole Agent Duties



Parole Agents are primarily responsible for the supervision of inmates who have recently been released from prison and assisting parolees with reintegration into the community.

Parole Agents are assigned a caseload of parolees and may provide the following services:

  • Work with parolees’ relatives and community service agencies
  • Arrange for help with employment, housing, medical care, education, social activities and mandatory counseling services
  • Arrange for and verify release programs
  • Screen cases for placement in community correctional facilities
  • Conduct investigations into allegations of parole violations or criminal behavior (may include interviews and surveillance, search, and seizure)
  • Apprehend and arrest parolees who are suspected of involvement in criminal activities or have violated parole
  • Testify in administrative hearings and judicial proceedings
  • Provide information to other community agencies regarding specific parolees or Department of Adult Parole Operations’ policy/procedures as they pertain to parole
  • Assess parolees’ risk to the community and type of services required to help assist them with their adjustment back into the community
  • Make recommendations to administrative paroling authority regarding case dispositions
  • Prepare reports and correspondence that pertain to the parolees’ adjustment while being supervised on parole
