Parole Agent Selection Process

Step I: Apply for the Exam
When the filing period is open for the Parole Agent I (PAI) examination, submit your application via the internet.

  • You must meet the minimum qualifications
  • If you receive a passing score, select a date to take the PAI written test at one of the locations offered

Step II: Interview
Based on your written test score, you will be ranked with the other candidates in the selection process. If you are reachable on the hiring list (ranks 1-3), you will be eligible to be interviewed for a position with a parole unit. As agents are hired, ranks below 1-3 may become eligible for hire.

Step III: Additional Selection Components
If you receive and accept an offer of employment, you will be processed through the remaining selection components:

Step IV: Parole Agent Academy
Once you successfully complete all selection components, you will be scheduled to attend a ten-week Parole Agent Academy.  You will receive a salary while in the academy. After graduating from the academy, you will start working for the parole unit with which you accepted employment.

We are currently not accepting applications for this position. No additional Parole Agent I test dates are available at this time. Please continue to monitor this web site for announcements of future test dates.
