Regulations Development

All regulations adopted by the Board of Parole Hearings (board) are discussed and considered during its monthly business meeting. Below is a list of the board's regulations currently in the rulemaking process.  For more information on a particular regulation, please click on the appropriate link.

Proposed regulations are noticed in the California Regulatory Notice Register, published by the Office of Administrative Law. Public comment is invited during the 45-day public comment period for each proposed regulation. All public comment is considered by the Office of Administrative Law when considering approval of a proposed regulation.

The Legal Unit is actively involved in a comprehensive revision of the board's regulations to make them consistent with recent statutory changes and court decisions. The anticipated result will be current and "user friendly."

The 2008 Rulemaking Calendar is broken down into two schedules: Schedule A is proposed regulations implementing statutes enacted during the year 2007.  Schedule B is proposed regulations implementing statutes enacted prior to the year 2007.

The regulations for all state agencies are now available through the Office of Administrative Law's website. Board of Parole Hearings regulations are at Title 15, Division 2, Sections 2000-2999.
