C. Scott Harris Jr.- Executive Director

C. Scott is the Executive Director for Corrections Standards Authority (CSA) (formerly the Board of Corrections). Scott came to the Board in May of 2006, after serving nearly 30 years with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Scott began his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff in 1976 and attained the rank of Chief Deputy of Administrative Services during his tenure. Scott held a variety of positions from Patrol Officer, Jail Officer, Training Officer, Detective, Field Commander, Court Commander, to Jail Commander, which provided him with a wide range of experiences to bring to the Board.
Scott was born in Hollywood, Florida on May 15, 1955. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of California at Davis. Additionally, Scott has a California Lifetime Teaching Credential in Police Science and a Juris Doctorate (Law) Degree. Scott is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
As the Executive Director of CSA, Scott oversees 85 staff which assists the 19-member Board in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. The CSA staff consists of the Facilities Standards and Operations (FSO) Division, the Corrections Planning and Programs (CPP) Division, the Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) Division, Regulations and Policy Management Branch (RPMB), and the Executive/Program Support (EPS) Division.
