Board Member Cleotha Adams
Mr. Cleo Adams was born in Tallulah, Louisiana in April 1956. After graduating high school he entered the United States Air Force where he spent the next twenty years. He worked as an Air Force Security Policeman protecting bases in the United States and overseas. He spent four separate tours in the Republic of Korea as well as several assignments within the continental United States. The range of assignments stretched from upper state New York to Las Vegas, Nevada. His first assignment at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan he worked many hours in the cold and snow to protect vital resources.
As the years passed he was promoted to supervisory positions with additional responsibilities. He met each challenge and decided to make the Air Force his way of life for two decades. Some of his duties included Master Surveillance and Control Facility Operator for the Strategic Command Alert Forces, Fire Team Leader, Sector Supervisor, Law Enforcement Flight Chief, Superintendent of deployed Security Police Forces and Superintendent of Corrections.
In 1990 he deployed to Saudi Arabia as the Superintendent of deployed Security Police Forces from Beal Air Force Base, California. The mission was to protect vital U2/TR-1 resources during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. They were also tasked with protecting off base living quarters of deployed American forces from hostile attack. In 1992 he assumed the duty of Superintendent of Corrections for the Regional Corrections Facility at Beale Air Force Base. Under the reorganization of the Department of Defense Correctional system they were to house inmates from all branches of the uniform services. They received very high praise from inspectors during their certification as a Regional Corrections Facility.
In 1994 he retired from the United States Air Force and in November 1995 he started working for the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department in the adult detention facility. In 1999 promoted to the rank of Sergeant and became a Shift Supervisor. He supervised deputies working in the detention facility and ensured inmate and staff safety were the order of the day. In 2004 he assumed the duty of Administrative Sergeant handling all special projects, training program, Reserve Deputy Coordinator for the Jail Division, and inmate programs.
Mr. Adams completed his BA degree in Criminal Justice from the Union Institute and University in 2004. He was selected as Officer of Year for 2004. He was selected to teach at the Administrative of Justice Department at Yuba College in Marysville in their Corrections Core Course.
In his spare time, he loves to travel and take in new sights and enjoys bowling and going to the movies with his granddaughter. His daughter and granddaughter are his inspiration for getting up in the morning.
