Debbie Rives- Deputy Director for Standards and Training for Corrections Division

 

Debbie Rives came to the Corrections Standards Authority (formerly the Board of Corrections) in 2004.  She was recruited as a Field Representative and was assigned as the Standards Manager for the Standards and Training for Corrections Division.  Debbie began her career in corrections as a Probation Officer in Lassen County and worked various assignments including court officer, intake officer, training manager, investigations, field supervision and program manager. She served as Assistant Chief Probation Officer for six years and was subsequently appointed Chief Probation Officer.  As Chief Probation Officer she was responsible for field and institutional operations, budget administration, program development and implementation, selection and training, and personnel administration.

Debbie has served on the Executive Board of the California Association of Probation Services Administrators as Chairperson for the Northern Region and has been a member of the California Chief Probation Officers Association, California Narcotics Officers Association, California Juvenile Probation Officers Association, and the Northern California Probation Officers Association.  She has been an instructor at the community college level and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program and Teen Court Program for the county of Lassen. 

Debbie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from San Jose State University and received her Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Sacramento.  Debbie is currently the Deputy Director of the Standards and Training for Corrections Division.  This division is responsible for the development of selection and training standards for state and local corrections professionals and the administration of programs designed to ensure the competency of the corrections workforce.
