Gary Wion

Gary Wion is the Deputy Director of the Facility Standards and Operations Division (FSO) for the Corrections Standards Authority (CSA). Gary came to CSA as a Field Representative in 1998 after dedicating 18 years to law enforcement. Gary’s law enforcement career began in 1980 as the Supervising Group Counselor at Shasta County Juvenile Hall where he supervised and trained staff, worked on the design of the new juvenile hall, and prepared the annual budget.

In 1991, Gary accepted the position of Superintendent of the San Benito County Juvenile Hall where he oversaw the design and construction of the new facility prior to its opening. Upon the opening of the new juvenile hall, Gary worked successfully to develop and implement policies and procedures governing the operation of the facility and worked diligently to integrate the new juvenile hall with other county and city agencies within a very short time. In 1997, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.

In 2007, Gary was recruited as Acting Deputy Director of FSO. As the Acting Deputy Director, he is responsible for ensuring the completion of the biennial inspection of all local adult and juvenile detention facilities in California and the promulgating, reviewing and revising of the California Code of Regulations, Titles 15 and 24, Minimum Standards for Local Adult and Juvenile Detention Facilities.
