Peace Officer Compliance and Training is responsible for:

  • Providing technical support, guidance, training, and training curriculum for In-Service Training (IST) offices statewide
  • Auditing and evaluating training programs to ensure implementation, standardization, and compliance of training policies
  • Working with the California Standards Authority to deliver the two-year Apprenticeship Program through on-the-job training of IST managers and periodic evaluation of each apprentice

Professional Programs and Learning Center Operations are responsible for:

  • Providing direction and technical support to Headquarters office and training coordinators
  • Establishing policy for CDCR and legally mandated courses
  • Instructing and coordinating mandated courses for Headquarters staff
  • Developing and providing Advanced Supervision, Basic Supervision, and Leadership Development classes
  • Coordinating and providing non-Custody Staff Development (i.e., New Employee Orientation, Basic Business Writing, Analytical Skills, and Support Staff Skills)
  • Operating and maintaining the Headquarters' training facility, related equipment and resources
  • Revising and updating Headquarters curriculum as necessary
  • Developing new programs to address identified training needs
