CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE TO HONOR INMATE FIRE FIGHTERS

WHAT:
California's State Legislature will pay tribute to the state fire fighting response during the 1999 fire season during a special public ceremony. An Assembly Concurrent Resolution introduced by Assembly Member Dickerson will be presented to the California Department of Corrections (CDC) for providing and supervising more than 2,790 Conservation Camp inmates whose efforts helped minimize the devastation to life and property during the "Fire Sieges of 1999." The inmates worked more than 1.5 million hours on 244 fires in 1999, carrying out their duties in difficult and dangerous conditions.
CDC Director C.A. "Cal" Terhune will accept the resolution on behalf of CDC and will be among the event speakers.
