The Office of the Ombudsman

The Office of the Ombudsman works directly for the Director as an independent entity- or special advisor- on sensitive issues that relate to a specific institution. The Ombudsman provides management advice and consultation to the Director and makes recommendations to resolve critical issues that impact departmental policies, procedures and programs applicable to specific institutions. The Ombudsman serves as a key policy and public relations expert, with a focus on ethical decision-making, and has extensive contact with staff, inmates and their families, legislative bodies and community-based groups.
