Family Services Program and the 3rd Day Visiting Program

The Female Offender Program and Services Section provides oversight of the 3rd Day Visiting Program for the Division of Adult Institutions. The 3rd Day Visiting Program began in July of 2006 at 10 prisons. It has expanded to the 20 prisons identified below. This program includes the Chowchilla Family Express that provides a bus services to Central California Women’s Facility and Valley State Prison for Women.

The Family Service Program as part of the 3rd Day Visiting Program provides a Family Service Coordinator in the Institution Visiting Room. The duties of the Family Service Coordinator include:

• Providing reunification services to inmates including assistance with issues involving parental rights


• Referring family members to services available in their communities (medical/mental health treatment, housing, education, job training, employment, financial aid, social services, and SSI, etc).

You can sign up to speak with the Family Service Coordinator in the visiting room. Any inmate may access the services of the Family Service Coordinator by filling out a Request for Interview form. A family member may also contact the Family Service Coordinator by telephone.
