Welcome to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Academy

You have made the decision to join one of the largest and most demanding correctional training facilities in the country. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is recognized as one of the finest correctional agencies in the world. The academy training regimen will instill pride, discipline, respect, and teamwork. Throughout your time at this sixteen week academy, you will be tested mentally, physically, and emotionally on a daily basis. The CDCR is often described as a "paramilitary" department, and that is true. The uniforms, ranks and insignias, chain of command, and the long-standing traditions resemble a military organization.
