As a condition of continuing appointment with the Board, all Active Attorneys are required to attend the Board’s annual orientation in order to meet all minimum qualifications. Failure to attend one of the orientations as an Active Attorney will result in removal from assigned active panel(s), as specified in Minimum Qualifications 5 and 6 of the Program Guide. The Board has determined the number of Standby Attorneys required to attend is the product of active attorneys on the panel, times two. Inactive attorneys not in attendance will be unable to meet qualifications 5 and 6 and subsequently be passed over if an active position becomes available and moved to the bottom of the inactive panel list.

The orientation includes an overview relating to hearings the Board conducts, administrative processes, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are encouraging all invitees with mandatory attendance to make adjustments in their schedule to maintain participation in the Program. The Board does not foresee scheduling makeup sessions or independent self-study opportunities.

This year’s annual orientations are scheduled as follows:

Northern California Southern California
Date: September 09, 2019 Date: September 23, 2019
Start Time: 9:00 am Start Time: 9:00 am
Location: BPH Headquarters Location: Diamond Bar, CA

Attorneys seeking placement on the panel only require submission of a resume, proof of good standing with the California State Bar, and the signature page of the program description. Upon receipt of the identified documents, the attorney’s name will be added to the end of the inactive list for their preferred panels in order of the postmarked date.
