Highway Patrol (CHP), and Department of\nTransportation (DOT) as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. &nbsp;Prepares\/Reviews repair cost estimates of work\nto be performed on automotive fleet vehicles to maintain safe and proper\nequipment by utilizing manufacturer specifications, guidelines, policies and\nprocedures under the direction of the DGS\/OFA, CHP, and DOT as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. &nbsp;Plans work to be performed on automotive fleet\nvehicles to maintain safe and proper equipment by utilizing manufacturer\nspecifications, guidelines, policies and procedures under the direction of the\nDGS\/OFA, CHP, and DOT as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. &nbsp;Inspects\/Test Drives repaired vehicles for\nproper functioning and completion of work to ensure automotive fleet vehicles\nare operating as designed and perform quality control to maintain safe and\nreliable operation utilizing safety guidelines, visual inspections, and\nexpertise of best industry practices under the direction of the Equipment\nMaintenance Supervisor, CF (EMS, CF) as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. &nbsp;Test drives automotive fleet vehicles and\ntests components\/systems to locate and determine the need for or extent of\nnecessary repairs and the corrective action necessary to maintain safe and\nproper operating fleet vehicles utilizing equipment such as OBD II scan tool,\ncompression gauges, multimeter, service information, etc. under the direction\nof the EMS, CF as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. &nbsp;Examines automotive fleet vehicles to\ndetermine extent of damage due to operator negligence and\/or accidents for best\nmethods of repair utilizing safety guidelines, visual inspections, and\nexpertise of best industry practices under the direction of the EMS, CF as\ndirected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. &nbsp;Repairs\/Replaces\/Adjusts power hydraulic brake\nsystems on automotive fleet vehicles to maintain safe and proper operating of\nfleet vehicles for staff and inmate transportation utilizing manufacturer\nrecommended specifications\/operational procedures under the direction of the\nEMS, CF as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. &nbsp;Follows safety inspection checklists to ensure\nall important parts are examined (e.g. belts, hoses, steering systems, spark\nplugs, brakes, fuel systems, wheel bearings, etc.) on automotive fleet vehicles\nto maintain safe and proper operating of fleet vehicles for staff and inmate\ntransportation utilizing proper diagnostic equipment, hand tools, manufacturer\nspecification guidelines, etc. under the direction of the EMS, CF as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. &nbsp;Performs routine and scheduled maintenance\nservices (e.g. oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups) to automotive fleet\nvehicles to provide safe and proper operating of fleet vehicles for staff and\ninmate transportation utilizing proper diagnostic equipment, hand tools,\nmanufacturer specification guidelines, policies and procedures under direction\nof DGS\/OFA and operational procedures as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. &nbsp;Repairs\/Services air conditioning, heating,\nengine cooling, and electrical systems on automotive fleet vehicles to provide\nsafe and proper operating of fleet vehicles for staff and inmate transportation\nutilizing proper diagnostic equipment, hand tools, manufacturer specification\nguidelines, etc. under the direction of the EMS, CF as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. &nbsp;Repairs\/Rebuilds faulty internal combustion\nengines on automotive fleet vehicles in order to maintain required performance\nfeatures and maintain safe and proper operating fleet vehicles for staff and\ninmate transportation utilizing proper diagnostic equipment, hand tools,\nmanufacturer specification guidelines, etc. under the direction of the EMS, CF\nas required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. &nbsp;Disassembles engine components and inspect\nparts for wear, utilizing micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, pressure\ndifferential gauges, etc. on automotive vehicle fleet as per manufacturer\nspecifications in order to maintain safe and proper operating fleet vehicles\nfor staff and inmate transportation utilizing visual inspection and best\nindustry practices under the direction of DGS\/OFA and the EMS, CF as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13. &nbsp;Rewires\/Installs ignition systems, lights and\naftermarket electronic devices in automotive fleet vehicles in order to\nmaintain safe and proper operating fleet vehicles for staff and inmate\ntransportation and ensure safety and security of the institution (i.e., gun\nlocks, radios, emergency light equipment) utilizing electrical wiring\nschematics, wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, and other related splicing\nconnectors under the direction of the Office of Emergency Services (OES),\nDGS\/OFA, and CHP as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14. &nbsp;Inspects\/Rebuilds\/Repairs manual and automatic\ntransmissions on automotive fleet vehicles in order to maintain required\nperformance features and maintain safe and proper operating fleet vehicles for\nstaff and inmate transportation utilizing specialty transmission tools,\npresses, manufacturer specifications, etc. under the direction of DGS\/OFA and\nthe EMS, CF, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15. &nbsp;Maintains a clean automotive repair facility\nfree of clutter and debris (e.g., deposit waste in appropriate containers\n(i.e., trash, recycle, and hot trash) to ensure a safe work environment, to\nhelp eliminate areas where contraband may be concealed, to facilitate the\nsafety and security of the institution, in accordance with the DOM, utilizing a\nbroom, mop, inmate worker, etc., under the direction of the EMS, CF as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16. &nbsp;Inspects\/Repairs\/Replaces suspension and\nsteering components in automotive fleet vehicles in order to maintain safe and\nproper operating feet vehicles for staff and inmate transportation utilizing\nmanufacturer specifications, hand tools, pneumatic lifts, personal protective\nequipment (PPE), etc. under the direction of the EMS, CF as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17. &nbsp;Attends training and\/or safety meetings for\npersonal and or job related objectives (departmental mandated, career\ndevelopment, etc.) in order to enhance knowledge of job related functions\nand\/or meet departmental and\/or State mandated requirements utilizing in\nservice training (IST), block training, IST sign in sheets, etc. in accordance\nwith DOM, State Administrative Manual (SAM), DGS under the general direction of\nthe EMS, CF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18. &nbsp;Keeps records of transactions (e.g., Smog\nCertificates, Work Orders, Maintenance Books, etc.) on automotive fleet\nvehicles for auditing purposes as directed by the State Administrative Manual\n(SAM) and Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) in order to maintain compliance\nwith state mandated policies, laws, rules and regulations utilizing vehicle\nrecord keeping, fleet maintenance program and tracking systems under the\ndirection of the EMS, CF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19. &nbsp;Instructs and supervises inmates\/youthful\noffenders to understand and follow oral and written instructions [Code of Safe\nPractices, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Safety Data Sheets\n(SDS), Repair Manuals, etc.) sufficient to carry out repair orders and shop\nprocedures by demonstrating the proper repair methods and answer questions\nunder the direction of the EMS, CF as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20. &nbsp;Maintains order and supervises the conduct of\npersons committed to the California Department of Corrections and\nRehabilitation (CDCR) to produce a safe and productive shop utilizing\nDepartmental Operations Manual (DOM) and departmental policies and procedures\non a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21. &nbsp;Maintains the safety and security of persons\nand property, to prevent escape of and injury by persons committed to the CDCR\nto themselves or others or to property in accordance with DOM, departmental\npolicies and procedures, California Code of Regulations (CCR)Title 15, on a\ndaily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22. &nbsp;Issues\/Controls tools, inventory for institutional\ngarage by utilizing a scheduled time and random tool count to maintain security\nprocedures by and\/or writing information in (name, date, time, and article) and\nby using a color coded shadow board, chit system for the issuance of tools per\nDOM, departmental policies and procedures on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24. &nbsp;Prepares written documents [e.g., inmate\ntimekeeping, pay sheets, inmate out count, safety inspection reports,\nevaluations (CDC 101), etc.] to provide information\/documentation to ensure\ncompliance with rules, regulations, policies, procedures, Inmate Worker\nTraining Incentive Program (IWTIP), etc. on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25. &nbsp;Initiates personnel actions, such as hires,\ndisciplines and discharges of inmates\/youthful offenders (e.g. CDCR 128B, CDCR\n115) to ensure proper staffing to produce a safe and productive shop utilizing\nDOM and departmental policies and procedures on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26. &nbsp;Ensures garage institutional tools\/equipment\nare properly maintained to prevent injuries and down time and produce efficient\ncompletion of preventive and demand work orders utilizing personal knowledge\nand experience, CCR Title 15, DOM, IIPP, Cal-OSHA, institutional operational\nprocedures, communication with manufacturers, broken tool reports, etc., on a\ndaily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27. &nbsp;Communicates in a professional manner to deal\nwith confidential issues utilizing tact, interpersonal skills, etc. to\nestablish and maintain effective working relationships with others in order to\ndetermine and resolve various issues (e.g. disagreements with coworkers, personality\ndifferences, work responsibilities, etc.) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28. &nbsp;Maintains daily records (e.g. inmate\/youthful\noffenders timesheets, daily work orders and time reports, tool control, staff\nand inmate\/youthful offenders safety training, vehicle log, etc.) to provide\ninformation for institutional use and assure compliance with stipulated laws,\nrules, regulations, policies and procedures, etc., utilizing resources (e.g.,\nDOM, Youth Administrative Manual [YAM], institutional operational procedures,\nIWTIP, IIPP, etc.), on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29. &nbsp;Responds to emergency call backs (e.g.,\nvehicle stuck in sally port, inmate escape, institutional emergencies, etc.) in\norder to ensure the safety and security of the institution by utilizing and\nmaintaining a land line or cell phone, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30. &nbsp;Escorts outside vendors to provide contracted\nservice to the automotive fleet vehicles within the institution, in order to\nmaintain the safety and security of the institution (e.g., injury, escape,\ncontraband, etc.) and assure compliance with stipulated rules, regulations,\npolicies, procedures, etc. utilizing, DOM, institutional operational\nprocedures, documented In-Service Training (IST), tool control, staff\naccountability, etc. as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31. &nbsp;Supervises\/coordinates the maintenance and\nrepair of all automotive fleet vehicles to ensure fleet vehicles are safe and\nin proper operating condition for staff and inmate transportation utilizing\nmanufacturer specifications, guidelines, policies and procedures under the direction\nof the DGS\/OFA, DOM, SAM, state vehicle code, etc. as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>32. &nbsp;Maintains automotive fleet key accountability\nin order to ensure vehicle security and control by ensuring keys are in\ndesignated and secure location for the safety and security of the institution\nutilizing computer or print out of key rosters, effective communication skills\nin accordance with DOM, departmental policies and procedures, under the\ndirection of the EMS, CF on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>33. &nbsp;Addresses stressful situations (e.g. inmates\/youthful\noffenders, work relationships, heavy workloads, meeting deadlines, staff\noverfamiliarity, etc.) in the workplace in a professional and tactful manner,\nwith a goal of avoiding further escalation by utilizing effective interpersonal\nskills,
