pre-employment\npsychological evaluations to ensure compliance and meet the current standards\nof practice using applicable federal\/state laws, rules and regulations (e.g.,\nPeace Officer Standards and Training [POST]\/Correctional-Peace Officer\nStandards and Training [C-POST], California Code of Regulations, Government\nCodes, Penal Codes, etc.), as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. &nbsp;Oversee the review of detailed psychological\nreports of finding to ensure quality, timeliness and accuracy using applicable\nfederal\/state laws, rules and regulations, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. &nbsp;Review the recommendations and decision making\npatterns of Psychologists and Contracted Psychologists based on psychological\nevaluations using computer analysis programs (e.g., Microsoft Excel, database\napplications, etc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. &nbsp;Oversee staff\/contractors in the\ninterpretation of test results to ensure compliance using applicable\nfederal\/state laws, rules and regulations, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. &nbsp;Oversee staff\/contractor decisions\/findings\nregarding psychological evaluations to ensure compliance using applicable\nfederal\/state laws, rules and regulations, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. &nbsp;Identify the need for additional specialized\ndiagnostic evaluations to ensure justifiable\/defensible psychological decisions\nusing management of case consultations, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. &nbsp;Make professional determinations regarding the\nsuitability of candidates for peace officer positions in the State civil\nservice to ensure public safety using applicable federal\/state laws, rules and\nregulations, on an ongoing basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. &nbsp;Train Psychologists who conduct clinical\ninterviews in support of the California State\u2019s Psychological Screening Program\n(PSP) to ensure a qualified workforce using workshops, training seminars,\nconsultation, continuous feedback, etc., on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. &nbsp;Oversee Psychologists who conduct clinical\ninterviews in support of the California State\u2019s PSP to enhance quality of\ndecisions using feedback, consultation, case conferences, etc., on an ongoing\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. &nbsp;Recruit external contract providers who conduct\nclinical interviews in support of the California State\u2019s PSP to provide program\nsupport and increase productivity using conferences, training seminars,\nreferences, etc., on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. &nbsp;Train external contract providers who conduct\nclinical interviews in support of the California State\u2019s PSP to ensure a\nqualified workforce using workshops, training seminars, consultation,\ncontinuous feedback, etc., on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. &nbsp;Oversee Psychologists in the preparation of\nexpert testimony in hearing proceedings to represent hiring agencies using\nconsultative techniques, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13. &nbsp;Oversee Psychologists in the presentation of\nexpert testimony in hearing proceedings to ensure adequate defense of\npsychological decisions using supervision techniques, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14. &nbsp;Oversee compliance with test publishers\nrequirements to utilize psychological questionnaires as required by POST\nregulation 1955 using proctor instruction\/monitoring (e.g., teaching\npresentations, preparation of test proctor manuals, site visits, etc.), as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15. &nbsp;Select psychological questionnaires to be\nutilized by the department to ensure the standards of practice and legal\nrequirements are met using research, literature review and validation studies,\non an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16. &nbsp;Oversee the determination of mental\/emotional\nconditions and\/or any personality traits\/temperaments that may significantly\nimpair a candidate\u2019s ability to carry out peace officer duties to comply with\nfederal\/state laws, rules and regulations using established screening criteria,\non an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17. &nbsp;Coordinate the 90-day Dispute Resolution\nProcess to ensure correct procedures are applied using applicable federal\/state\nlaws, rules and regulations, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18. &nbsp;Coordinate with the State Personnel Board\nregarding appeal hearings of disqualified candidates to ensure compliance using\napplicable federal\/state laws, rules and regulations, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19. &nbsp;Review areas in research to update practice in\nPSP and ensure program validity using literature review, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20. &nbsp;Direct research related to psychological\nscreening methodology as applicable to employment and selection to\nmonitor\/update the validity of programmatic policies\/procedures using standard\nresearch techniques, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21. &nbsp;Represent the Department at relevant outside\nlitigation proceedings to defend job hiring decisions using verbal and written\ncommunication skills, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22. &nbsp;Provide professional and expert consultation\nto management regarding the California State\u2019s PSP for peace officer candidates\nto ensure compliance with current policies\/procedures using verbal\ncommunication and written memoranda, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23. &nbsp;Provide direction to Department regarding\ncontracts for psychological testing\/interviews to maintain the standards\ngoverning psychological screening using written\/verbal consultation, on an\nongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24. &nbsp;Provide expectations to PSP staff\/Staff\nServices Manager to ensure compliance with departmental policies using staff\nmeetings, memoranda, e-mail communication, etc., on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25. &nbsp;Provide leadership and direction to contract\npsychologists to ensure efficient and effective operations using training,\ne-mail communication, etc., on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26. &nbsp;Supervise staff in the performance of\nspecialized and responsible assignments relating to the psychological screening\nof peace officers to ensure standards of practice are met using supervision\ntechniques, on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27. &nbsp;Supervise Psychologists in the review of\ndiagnostic assessment data, background investigation data, and\nmedical\/psychological records to ensure standards of practice are met using\nreview and consultation methods, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28. &nbsp;Supervise Psychologists in conducting\nevaluations and clarifying interviews to enhance accuracy of psychological\ndecisions using supervision techniques, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29. &nbsp;Supervise staff in preparing and presenting\nscreening decision cases for appeal hearings to ensure quality and consistency\nin decision making using job performance evaluations and staff meeting\nfeedback, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30. &nbsp;Supervise staff participating in the design\nand implementation of content\/criterion validity research projects to ensure\nuse of current\/relevant data using standard research techniques, on an ongoing\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31. &nbsp;Supervise staff in performing other professional\nand specialty-related work to ensure administrative expectations are met using\nverbal and written guidance, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>32. &nbsp;Ensure the confidentiality of all\npsychological\/medical records to maintain the standards governing psychological\nscreening using inspection techniques\/methods and staff training, on an ongoing\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>33. &nbsp;Consult with other Chief Psychologists and\/or\nprofessionals with known expertise in the field to discuss relevant\nissues\/concerns and ensure compliance
