1.  Plan the work of Electrician I\/II and inmates\nengaged in the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of institutional\nelectrical systems (e.g., lighting, distribution, etc.) to ensure the safety\nand security of the institution, staff and inmates using Injury and Illness\nPrevention Program (IIPP), California Code of Regulations (CCR), National Fire\nProtection Association (NFPA), National Electrical Code (NEC), etc., as required.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.  Layout the work of Electrician I\/II and\ninmates engaged in the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of\ninstitutional electrical systems (e.g., lighting, distribution, etc.) to ensure\nthe safety and security of the institution, staff and inmates using IIPP, CCR,\nNFPA, NEC, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.  Lead the work of Electrician I\/II and inmates\nengaged in the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of institutional\nelectrical systems (e.g., lighting, distribution, etc.) to ensure the safety\nand security of the institution, staff and inmates using IIPP, CCR, NFPA, NEC,\netc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.  Inspect the work of Electrician I\/II and\ninmates engaged in the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of\ninstitutional electrical systems (e.g., lighting, distribution, etc.) to ensure\nthe safety and security of the institution, staff and inmates using IIPP, CCR,\nNFPA, NEC, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.  Prepare rough sketches of minor electrical\ninstallations to provide an updated blueprint utilizing drawing materials as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.  Prepare estimates for projects (i.e. labor,\nmaterials, tools and equipment) to provide supervisor with necessary\ninformation for planning, developing and cost analysis using internet,\nblueprints and rough sketches according to federal\/state\/local codes and\nregulations as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.  Advise supervisor of the selection and\nprocurement of electrical materials, tools, and equipment for projects and\nmaintenance to meet the needs of the institution using the Departmental Design\nCriteria, catalogs, internet, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.  Advise supervisor in the maintenance and\nrepair of institutional electrical systems (e.g., lighting, distribution, etc.)\nto meet the needs of the facility using CCR, NFPA, NEC, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.  Organize tools, equipment and inventory in a\nsafe and orderly manner to maintain functionality, reliability, and ensure\ncontinuity of work and job completion using California Occupational Safety\nHealth Administration (Cal-OSHA), Departmental Operations Manual (DOM), policy\nand procedures on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.  Respond to institutional work orders to ensure\ntimely repair and maintenance of electrical systems using CCR, NFPA, NEC, etc.,\nas needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

11.  Maintain institutional electrical systems\n(e.g., lighting, distribution, etc.) to meet federal\/state\/local codes and\nregulations and ensure safety\/security of the institution, staff and inmates\nusing CCR, NFPA, NEC, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

12.  Coordinate with departmental supervisors,\ntrades people, custody\/medical staff, contractors and vendors regarding\nprojects to ensure the work is completed effectively and efficiently using\ninterpersonal skills and various resources such as the DOM, local Operational\nProcedures (OP), etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

13.  Supervise inmates engaged in the use of tools,\nequipment and materials to maintain safety and security of the facilities\/work\nareas using interpersonal skills, DOM, tool\/key control, material\naccountability, etc., on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

14.  Communicate in a professional and effective\nmanner with supervisors, staff and inmates to provide and obtain information\nand establish effective working relationships while using interpersonal skills\nand DOM, at all times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

15.  Supervise the conduct of inmates to prevent\nescapes and injuries by inmates to themselves or others and damage to property\nusing interpersonal skills, DOM, Supervisory Reports (Form CDC 101), Counseling\nChronos (Form CDC 128), etc., on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

16.  Maintain electrical shop and contents to\nensure compliance stipulated by rules, regulations, policies and procedures to\nprovide a safe and secure work environment using Cal-OSHA, DOM, IIPP, OP, etc.,\non a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

17.  Search premises for contraband such as weapons\nor illegal drugs, etc. to ensure the safety and security of the institution\nusing DOM and local OP, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

18.  Search inmates for contraband such as weapons\nor illegal drugs, etc. to ensure the safety and security of the institution\nusing DOM and local OP, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

19.  Prepare\nreports to provide information requested by manager\/supervisor for\ninstitutional use using As-Built Plans, DOM, IIPP, local OP, etc., as required.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20.  Maintain\ndepartmental records to ensure compliance stipulated by rules, regulations,\npolicies and procedures using DOM, IIPP, Strategic Offender Management System\n(SOMS), local OP, etc., on a daily basis. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

21.  Perform\nthe duties of a Supervisor of Building Trades or Utility Shop Supervisor in\nhis\/her absence to ensure continued operation of the institution using DOM,\nEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies, IIPP, local OP, etc., as needed.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

22.  Promote\na work environment free of discrimination and harassment to produce a\nhostile-free workplace using DOM, EEO policies, local OP, etc., on a daily\nbasis.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

23.  Report\nawareness of discrimination\/harassment to ensure compliance and a hostile-free\nworkplace using written and verbal communication per DOM, EEO policies, local\nOP, as required.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

24.  Interpret\nelectrical blueprints for other trades people to identify specific information\nfor projects, work order assignments and cost estimates using Departmental\nDesign Criteria, NEC, NFPA, etc., as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

25.  Interpret\nelectrical blueprints for the institution to ensure work is done according to\nplans and specifications using Departmental Design Criteria, NEC, NFPA, etc.,\nas needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

26.  Resolve\nverbal conflicts with staff\/inmate to achieve and maintain a cohesive and\nproductive work environment using DOM, EEO, and communication skills, as\nneeded.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

27.  Install\nappropriate electrical circuits for equipment (e.g., wires, fuses, breakers,\netc.) to ensure safe electrical operation using IIPP, NFPA, NEC, etc., as\nrequired. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

28.  Install\nconduit and raceways for data, electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure\nsafe electrical operation using IIPP, NFPA, NEC, etc., as required.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

29.  Install\ntimers, switches, contactors, and relays for electrical and mechanical\nequipment to ensure safe electrical operation using IIPP, NFPA, NEC, etc., as\nrequired.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

30.  Install\/repair\ninstitutional lighting, motors, transformers and switchboards to ensure safe\nelectrical operation using IIPP, NFPA, NEC, etc., as required. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

31.  Perform\npreventive maintenance on electrical equipment\/systems to ensure safe\nelectrical operation per manufacturer\u2019s requirements and specifications using\nCCR, NFPA, NEC, IIPP, etc., as required.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

32.  Troubleshoot\nelectrical problems in Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and power distribution\ncircuits to ensure safe electrical operation and function using CCR, NFPA, NEC,\netc., as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

33.  Maintain records, files and technical data on\nmaterials, tools and equipment to make recommendations regarding maintenance\nand repairs using electronic databases and\/or owner\u2019s manual, as required.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

34.  Repair\/replace\ninstitutional electrical system (e.g., breakers, contactors, starters, motors,\nwires, cables, etc.) to ensure the proper function of electrical systems using\ntools, equipment, NFPA, NEC, etc., as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
