documents\n(e.g., maps, plans, charts, diagrams, specifications, etc.) and estimates for\nvarious types of construction and maintenance projects including buildings,\nroads and retaining walls to provide direction to the field utilizing various\nresources (e.g., engineering software, manuals, hand drafting equipment,\ncalculator, Design Construction Policy Guidelines (DCPG), Standard Design\nDocuments (SDD), Design Criteria Guidelines (DCG), California Building Codes\n(CBC), etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\n&nbsp;Plan the survey scope for various types\nof construction projects to produce action plan utilizing existing site maps\nand previous project as-built site plans, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Direct survey parties to produce\ntopographic maps and elevation studies utilizing survey equipment, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Conduct foundation studies for various\ntypes of construction projects to make a recommendation regarding building\nfooting design utilizing various resources (e.g., manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC,\ncomputer, calculator, engineering software, etc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Observe structures under construction to\nensure conformance to plans and specifications utilizing various resources\n(e.g., manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, tape measure, calculator, etc.), as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Provide construction support to assist\nconstruction crew in resolving issues of construction methods and materials\nutilizing various resources (e.g., manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, professional\nknowledge, industry standard techniques, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Inspect existing structures to determine\nif repairs are necessary and identify the magnitude and methods of repairs\nutilizing various resources (e.g., manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, tape measure,\ncalculator, professional knowledge, industry standard techniques, etc.), as\ndirected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Determine the hydraulic properties of\nstream channels, hydraulic systems, structures and analyze hydrologic data to\ndetermine flood frequencies, unit hydrographs, precipitation, stream flow and\nground water utilizing various resources (e.g., engineering software, manuals,\ncalculator, etc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Design site grading plans to provide\nerosion control measures and storm-water management plans utilizing various\nresources (e.g., engineering software, manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, computer,\nhand drafting equipment, calculator, professional knowledge, industry standard\ntechniques, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Analyze site grading plans to determine\nadequacy of erosion control measures and techniques, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Keep the necessary records pertaining to\nconstruction progress to produce project as-built documents utilizing various\nresources (e.g., Microsoft Office software, filing system, copier, etc.), as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Confer with construction crew regarding\ncompliance with plans and quality of work and construction activity to ensure\nconformance with applicable codes and standards utilizing various resources\n(e.g., engineering software, manuals, calculator, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, computer,\nhand drafting equipment, professional knowledge, industry standard techniques,\netc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Review the consultant\u2019s work products to\nensure conformance with applicable codes utilizing various resources (e.g.,\nengineering software, manuals, calculator, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, computer,\nprofessional knowledge, industry standard techniques, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;Provide support and update of project\ndocumentation by identifying information necessary to maintain an accurate and\ncomplete historical record in the project folder utilizing departmental\npolicies and procedures, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;Perform field surveys to collect\nessential information for preparing a design utilizing camera, tape\nmeasurements and interview with institutional staff, as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;Consult with construction crew to\nprovide information, alternative construction methods, review change orders and\nrespond to request for information (RFI) utilizing, DCPG, DCG, SDD and CBC,\nprofessional knowledge, interpersonal skills, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.\n&nbsp;Conduct value engineering analysis for\nvarious projects to provide possible cost saving alternatives utilizing various\n(e.g., engineering software, manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, professional\nknowledge, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.\n&nbsp;Analyze description of property to\nensure new structure is constructed within State property line utilizing survey\nreports, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.\n&nbsp;Perform technical studies,\ninvestigations and research work on a wide variety of civil and structural\nprojects and or issues to determine solutions utilizing DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC,\nprofessional knowledge, industry standard techniques, interpersonal skills, as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21.\n&nbsp;Prepare written reports of engineering\nassessment to provide recommendations on engineering problems utilizing DCPG,\nDCG, SDD, CBC, professional knowledge, industry standard techniques,\ninterpersonal skills, as requested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22.\n&nbsp;Review various construction documents\nproduced by other entities to ensure conformance with design documents and\napplicable codes utilizing various resources (e.g., engineering software,\nmanuals, calculator, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, computer, professional knowledge,\nindustry standard techniques, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23.\n&nbsp;Communicate in a professional and\neffective manner to establish and maintain effective working relationships with\nother entities utilizing tact and interpersonal skills on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24.\n&nbsp;Interact with Construction Services\nBranch (CSB), state construction supervisors, institution staff and capital\noutlay staff to provide information, resolve construction issues, ensure\nconstruction quality and maintain design standards utilizing various resources\n(e.g., manuals, DCPG, DCG, SDD, CBC, professional knowledge, industry standard\ntechniques, interpersonal skills, etc.) within specified timeframes on a\nregular basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25.\n&nbsp;Prepare project status reports in order\nto provide information to clients and team members on the progress of projects,\nutilizing departmental database software, departmental policies and procedures,\nas needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26.\n&nbsp;Coordinate document reviews and\napprovals by applicable jurisdictional authorities (e.g., State Fire Marshal\n(SFM), State Historical Society, etc.) in order to produce approved designs and\nconstruction documents utilizing back-check meetings, departmental policies and\nprocedures, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27.\n&nbsp;Manage in-house design projects with\nengineering and architectural disciplines to ensure designs conforms to the\nbudget, institutional needs, DCPG, DCG and CBC utilizing various resources\n(e.g., computer, professional knowledge, scheduling, etc.), as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28.\n&nbsp;Participate in training for work\ndevelopment in order to improve project leadership\/management skills, morale,\ndesign and technical knowledge utilizing State funded training, departmental\ntraining, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29.\n&nbsp;Interact with manufacturing\/industry\nrepresentatives in order to obtain technical product information utilizing\ncomputer, telephone and personal contact in accordance with departmental\npolicies and procedures, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30.\n&nbsp;Assist Facilities Asset Management\nBranch (FMB), Project Management Branch (PMB) and their design professionals in\ndeveloping comprehensive submittal packages clients with various project\ndocuments and reports used to establish scopes, budgets and schedules to\nsupport the client\u2019s funding request with the Department of Finance (DOF) in\naccordance
