or Managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Generate legal pleadings and petitions\nfor assigned Staff Counsel to effectively represent the Department utilizing\nProLaw, Westlaw, and other legal resources and reference material, under the\nguidance of Staff Counsel, Supervisors or Managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Enter data into ProLaw database on\nbehalf of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations (CDCR) and\nOLA to ensure accurate record keeping utilizing ProLaw and Microsoft Office\nSoftware under the guidance of Staff Counsel, Supervisors or Managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Open and close files in ProLaw database\non behalf of CDCR and OLA to ensure accurate record keeping utilizing ProLaw\nand Microsoft Office Software under the guidance of Staff Counsel, Supervisors\nor Managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Ascertains the last amended form of the\nstatutory law on a given subject for the Office of Legal Affairs to provide\neffective representation utilizing legal research and writing, ProLaw, Westlaw,\netc., under the direction of the supervising Senior Staff Counsel or Assistant\nChief Counsel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Complies, annotates, and indexes\nprovisions of law and of legislative measures for the Office of Legal Affairs\nto provide effective representation utilizing ProLaw, office equipment, law\nlibrary, State Archives and other procedures consistent with a legal office\nunder the direction of the supervising Senior Staff Counsel or Assistant Chief\nCounsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Serves legal documents on behalf of CDCR\nfor legal proceedings utilizing telephone, email, fax, and ProLaw, etc., under\nthe guidance of Staff Counsel, Supervisors or Managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Assist in court calendar for Keyhea and\nother administrative hearings to provide effective representation utilizing\nlegal research and writing, ProLaw, Westlaw, etc., under the direction of the\nsupervising Senior Staff Counsel or Assistant Chief Counsel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Assist in the work of the law library\nfor the Office of Legal Affairs in order to maintain accurate reference\nmaterials utilizing procedures consistent with a legal office under the\ndirection of the supervising Senior Staff Counsel or Assistant Chief Counsel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;<strong>Provide\nlegal support services for Keyhea and other administrative hearings to provide\neffective representation utilizing legal research and writing, ProLaw, Westlaw,\netc., under the direction of the supervising Senior Staff Counsel or Assistant\nChief Counsel. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;<strong>Provide\nlitigation related support and records maintenance through the use of opening\nand closing files in ProLaw, maintaining files and database accuracy, to\nprovide effective representation utilizing ProLaw, office equipment, and other\nprocedures consistent with a legal office under the direction of the\nsupervising Senior Staff Counsel or Assistant Chief Counsel.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;<strong>Organize,\nindex and redact documents in response to discovery orders and other requests\nfor information to assist Staff Counsel utilizing procedures consistent with a\nlegal office under the direction of the supervising Senior Staff Counsel or\nAssistant Chief Counsel.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;<strong>Conduct\ntraining outside of the Office of Legal Affairs, for individuals without a\nlegal background to ensure consistency throughout the institutions\/facilities\nfor legal related matters utilizing Microsoft Office Software, prior\ninstructional manuals and legal research, under the guidance of Staff Counsel,\nSupervisors or Managers.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;<strong>Review\ncase file(s) to prepare for administrative hearings and litigation utilizing legal\nprocess Counsel handling third-party subpoenas and other\ncivil litigation discovery request to ensure timely responses on behalf of CDCR\nand OLA utilizing ProLaw, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Software and other legal\nresources and reference material, under the guidance of Staff Counsel,\nSupervisors or Managers.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29.\n&nbsp;<strong>Assist\nStaff Counsel with litigation holds for electronic discovery and other forms of\ndiscovery to ensure CDCR accurately captures and maintains all necessary\nelectronic or other information using ProLaw, Westlaw, Microsoft Office\nSoftware and other legal resources and reference material, under the guidance\nof Staff Counsel, Supervisors or Managers.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30.\n&nbsp;<strong>Review\ndepositions and other testimonial material for Staff Counsel to provide summaries\nutilizing ProLaw, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Software and other legal resources\nand reference material, under the guidance of Staff Counsel, Supervisors or\nManagers. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31.\n&nbsp;<strong>Review\ndiscovery materials for Staff Counsel and provide legal indexes to synthesize\nlarge volumes of information utilizing ProLaw, Westlaw, Microsoft Office\nSoftware and other legal resources and reference material, under the guidance\nof Staff Counsel, Supervisors or Managers.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>32.\n&nbsp;<strong>Assist\nGraduate Student Assistants and Student Assistants with legal pleadings and\npractices to ensure adequate understanding of legal process utilizing ProLaw,\nWestlaw, Microsoft Office Software and other legal resources and reference\nmaterial, under the direction of the supervising Senior Staff Counsel or\nAssistant Chief Counsel.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>33.\n&nbsp;<strong>Attend\nmeetings with OLA, programs, staff, control agencies, management and external\nstakeholders etc., to effectively participate in formation of departmental\npolicy, litigation and legal strategies utilizing various tools (e.g.,\ncomputer\/laptop, projector, handouts, phone and\/or video conferencing, written\ncorrespondence etc.) under the direction of the supervising Senior Staff\nCounsel or Assistant Chief Counsel. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>34.\n&nbsp;<strong>Travel\nto institutions and facilities to provide legal support via class action tours,\ngeneral tours, training, etc., utilizing State owned or rental vehicle under\nthe guidance of Staff Counsel, Supervisors or Managers.<\/strong>
