Task Statements:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1.\n Identify\/classify hazardous materials\nand wastes (corrosive, ignitable, reactive, or toxic) to ensure safe handling,\nproper storage and appropriate disposal utilizing Safety Data Sheets (SDS),\nlabeling, nationally recognized scientific publications, etc., in accordance\nwith Federal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.\n Identify hazardous materials and wastes\nto share accurate information used for training, labeling, inventory control,\nand waste minimization utilizing SDSs, recognized scientific publications and\nproduct labeling, in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.\n Provide information and recommendations\nto emergency responders to ensure safe handling and disposal of potentially\nhazardous substances utilizing HazCat kit, SDS, and labels, in accordance with\nFederal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.\n Assess potentially hazardous substances\nto promote safe handling and disposal and to provide information for emergency\nresponders utilizing HazCat kit and direct observation, in accordance with\nFederal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. \u00a0Follow guidelines to manage hazardous materials and wastes, provide information, direction, and training to others utilizing the SDS, Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs), recognized scientific publications, etc., in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.\n Conduct audits\/inspections of facilities\nto ensure compliance utilizing checklists and record reviews related to\nhazardous materials and wastes, in accordance with Federal, State, and local\nregulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.\n Review surveys and audits (e.g.\nEnvironmental Health Surveys, Department of Toxic Substances Control Audits,\nCertified Unified Program Agency [CUPA], etc.) of facilities to conform to\ncompliance with hazardous materials and waste requirements utilizing corrective\naction plans, inspection reports, etc., in accordance with Federal, State, and\nlocal regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.\n Implement institutions\u2019 hazardous\nmaterials business plan requirements to protect the public and environment\nutilizing the California Electronic Reporting System, in accordance with\nFederal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.\n Follow policies, procedures and\npractices associated with hazardous materials and waste management to provide\ninformation and direction to facility staff with the goal of improving\nworkplace safety utilizing best management practices, standard operating\nprocedures, etc., in accordance with Federal State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.\n Interact with departmental staff,\ncontractors, local and other governmental agencies on aspects of hazardous\nmaterials and waste management to assist with the coordination of audits and\ninspections by county and state environmental regulatory agencies utilizing\nmeetings, telephone, electronic media, written correspondence, etc., in\naccordance with Federal, State, and local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

11.\n Maintain hazardous waste disposal data\nto provide accurate reporting and payment of fees and taxes to the State Board\nof Equalization and Department of Toxic Substances Control utilizing Uniform\nHazardous Waste Manifests and other documents, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

12.\n Collect hazardous wastes from point of\ngeneration to the designated 90-Day storage area to consolidate for disposal\nwith the assistance of inmate labor\/workers utilizing materials handling\nequipment, hazardous waste containers, etc., in accordance with Federal, State,\nand local regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

13.\n Coordinate timely removal of hazardous\nwastes from facility grounds to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and\nlocal regulations utilizing contracted hazardous waste transporters, as needed.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14.\n Update hazardous materials program\n(e.g., Hazardous Materials Business\/Contingency Plan, Chemical Inventory,\nCalifornia Accidental Release Prevention Program, Spill Prevention Control and\nCounter measures, etc.) to ensure compliance with County, State and Federal\nhazardous materials and wastes regulations utilizing California Electronic\nReporting System, check lists, chemical inventories, processes, etc., on an\nannual basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

15.\n Monitor\nfacility permit conditions to ensure compliance with environmental quality,\npermit specifications, and worker safety requirements utilizing inspections,\ntesting, regulatory agency reports, in accordance with Federal, State, and\nlocal regulations.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

16.\n Maintain\nconstant tool, key and lock control to ensure the safety and security of the\nfacility utilizing an accountability system, tool log, missing tool report,\nheightened sense of awareness, etc., in accordance with facility operating\nprocedures.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

17.\nPrepare documents for service and\nexpense orders\/contracts to conduct repairs, or obtain contractor and\/or vendor\nservices, etc., utilizing departmental computers, office equipment and\ndepartmental forms, as needed, in accordance with State policy and procedures.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18.\n Prepare\npurchase orders and requests for supplies needed to maintain the hazardous\nmaterials program utilizing departmental computers, office equipment and\ndepartmental forms, in accordance with State, policy and procedures.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

19.\n Participate\nin seminars, trainings (e.g. HAZWOPER, first responder, etc.) and public\nmeetings to maintain current certifications and knowledge of regulations and\nlaws to disseminate information to facility staff utilizing on-the-job\ntraining, off-site trainings, written and\/or verbal communication, etc., in accordance\nwith Federal, State, and local regulations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
