class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Task Statements:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1.\n&nbsp;Inspect and diagnose state owned or\nleased equipment to locate and determine the need for or extent of necessary\nrepairs and the corrective action necessary to maintain safe and proper\noperating equipment by utilizing manufacturer specification guideline policies\nand procedures required by Department of General Services (DGS)\/Office of Fleet\nAdministration (OFA), California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Department of\nTransportation (DOT) under the direction of the Equipment Maintenance\nSupervisor (EMS). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\n&nbsp;Perform preventative maintenance and\nrepair to automobiles, trucks, tractors, graders, snowplows, pumps, air\ncompressors, all diesel and gasoline engines including heavy maintenance and\nconstruction equipment, and similar equipment to provide safe and proper\noperating equipment by using proper diagnostic equipment (electronic and\ncomputerized), hand tools, manufacturer specification guidelines, policies and\nprocedures required by DGS, OFA, CHP, and DOT under the direction of the\nEquipment Maintenance Supervisor (EMS). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Fabricate\/or modify existing or\nspecialized equipment or components (using sketches or based on a verbal\ndescription of intended function) by using the appropriate equipment (e.g.\ngrinders, drills, gas and electric welders, brazing and cutting equipment,\npressure tools, etc.) to improve an existing piece of equipment to ensure\neffective operation including body frames and running gear per policies and\nprocedures required by DOT for all highway use equipment and approvals of\nDGS\/OFA under the direction of the EMS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Operate and maintain tools and machinery\nnecessary for service used in the repair and maintenance of automobiles,\ntrucks, tractors, graders, snowplows, pumps, air compressors, all diesel and\ngasoline engines, heavy maintenance and construction equipment per manufacturer\nspecification guidelines to ensure safe operation of equipment following\npolicies and procedures under the direction of the EMS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Prepare\/review repair cost estimates of\nwork to be performed on all institutional light and heavy duty fleet equipment\nto maintain safe and proper equipment by utilizing manufacturer specifications,\nguidelines, policies and procedures under the direction of the DGS\/OFA, CHP,\nand DOT as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Instruct all staff and inmate operators\nin the proper operation of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and security\nof the institution by utilizing manufacturer operator\u2019s manual guidelines,\npolicies and procedures required by DGS\/OFA, State Administrative Manual (SAM),\nCHP and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Maintain records of preventative\nmaintenance and repairs performed on equipment for repair\/service by individual\nrepair order, including the nature of inspection, repair, service, labor hours,\nand replacement parts\/modified components histories, recording in\nlog\/automobile maintenance records (STD 271) of equipment per DGS\/OFA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Instruct and supervise inmates\/youthful\noffenders to understand and follow oral and written instructions [Code of Safe\nPractices, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Safety Data Sheets\n(SDS), Repair Manuals, etc.] sufficient to carry out repair orders and shop\nprocedures by demonstrating the proper repair methods and answer questions\nunder the direction of the EMS, CF as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Maintain order and supervises the conduct\nof persons committed to the California Department of Corrections and\nRehabilitation (CDCR) to produce a safe and productive shop utilizing\nDepartmental Operations Manual (DOM) and departmental policies and procedures\non a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Maintain the safety and security of\npersons and property, to prevent escape of and injury by persons committed to\nthe CDCR to themselves or others or to property in accordance with DOM,\ndepartmental policies and procedures, California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title\n15, on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;Issue\/Control tools, supplies and\nequipment for inmates\/youthful offenders by utilizing a scheduled time and\nrandom tool count to maintain security procedures by and\/or writing information\nin (name, date, time, and article) and by using a color coded shadow board,\nchit system for the issuance of tools per DOM, departmental policies and\nprocedures on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Inspect premises and searches\ninmates\/youthful offenders for contraband (weapons or illegal drugs, etc.) to ensure\nthe safety and security of the institution and public utilizing laws, rules,\nregulations, policies and procedures, etc. as needed under the direction of the\ndepartment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Prepare written documents [e.g. inmate\ntimekeeping, pay sheets, inmate out count, safety inspection reports,\nevaluations (CDC 101), etc.] to provide information\/documentation and ensure\ncompliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures, etc. on a daily\nbasis, under the direction of the department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Perform field repairs on vehicles and\nequipment (e.g., automobiles, trucks, tractors, all diesel and gasoline engines\nincluding heavy maintenance and construction equipment), to provide safe and\nproper operating equipment by using proper diagnostic equipment, hand tools, manufacturer\nspecification guidelines, policies and procedures required by DGS\/OFA, CHP, and\nDOT as needed without supervision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;<strong>Communicate\nin a professional manner to deal with confidential issues utilizing tact,\ninterpersonal skills, etc. to establish and maintain effective working\nrelationships with others in order to determine and resolve various issues\n(e.g. disagreements with coworkers, personality differences, work\nresponsibilities, etc.) as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;Initiate personnel actions, (i.e., hires,\ndisciplines and discharges of inmates\/youthful offenders) to ensure proper\nstaffing to produce a safe and productive shop utilizing DOM and departmental\npolicies and procedures on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;Input data onto computer software\nprograms to maintain and modify inventory, complete forms, maintenance logs,\netc. utilizing computer skills, knowledge of computer hardware and software,\npolicies, procedures, etc. on a daily basis per the micrometers, calipers,\nbore gauges, pressure differential gauges, etc. on automotive vehicles and\nequipment fleet as per manufacturer specifications in order to maintain safe\nand proper operating
