Controller\u2019s Office Filled\/Vacant Position Report dated February 22,\n2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>EDITED TASK LISTING<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>NOTE:\nEach position within this classification may perform some or all of these\ntasks.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Task Statements:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1.\n&nbsp;Scrape, sand and fill surfaces in\npreparation for painting and finishing institutional buildings (e.g., sheet\nrock, window trim, doors\/frames, concrete, etc.) in order to meet institutional\nneeds and state mandates utilizing safety protocols as outlined in Senate Bill\n198 (SB 198) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\n&nbsp;Apply undercoats and finish coats to\nwood, metal, and concrete to protect and produce optimum finish utilizing\nbrush, roller, spray guns, etc. on an a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Hang wallpaper to wood, concrete and\ndrywall to maintain a sanitary environment utilizing hand tools (e.g., roller,\nutility knives, broad knife, etc.) under the direction of the Painter III or\nsupervisor, as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Mix or tint paints to match existing\nfinishes, utilizing colorants and bases for various applications (e.g., work\nstations, doors, cabinets, sheet rock, etc.) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Clean and maintain brushes and other\nequipment to increase life expectancy and proper functionality of tools\nutilizing wire brushes, scouring pads, solvent (mineral spirits), etc. on an\nongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Paint simple designs and graphic designs\nto designated areas within the institution (e.g., visiting rooms, Chapels,\ndining rooms, etc.) to provide a well maintained atmosphere utilizing spray\nguns, spray pots, airbrush, etc. under the direction of the Painter III or\nsupervisor, as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Estimate the cost of painting jobs for\nthe institution (e.g. labor, materials, tools, equipment, etc.) to provide the\nnecessary information to the Painter III or supervisor utilizing personal\nknowledge and experience, rough sketches, specifications, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Advise Painter III or supervisor in the\nselection, ordering and storing of painting materials needed for daily\noperations in order to maintain an adequate amount of supplies utilizing\npersonal\/professional knowledge, Hazardous Material Requirements, rules, etc.\nas needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Consult with other craftspeople and\ninstitutional staff regarding preventative maintenance and repairs of the\ninstitution in order to perform the assigned duties with minimal impact and\nmeet institutional needs utilizing effective communication and scheduling as\ndirected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. &nbsp; Keep simple records and make reports (e.g., Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) log, perpetual inventory, inmate timekeeping, etc.) in order to maintain compliance with departmental policies utilizing Departmental Operations Manual (DOM), Title 15, Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS), etc., as mandated.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;Instruct and lead unskilled workers\nengaged in tasks associated with the painting trade utilizing safety training,\nDepartmental Operations Manual (DOM), current Hazardous Material Guidelines,\nInjury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), etc. in order to ensure compliance\nwith institutional guidelines and program needs, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Prepare a list of materials and supplies\nto ensure proper preparation and completion of specific jobs, task\/work orders,\nand maintain sufficient inventory in order to meet institutional program and\nsecurity needs utilizing institutional operation procedures, personal experience,\netc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Evaluate and lay out job to determine\nthe impact of affected staff and program in order to complete assigned task in\na reasonable timeframe and ensure compliance with institutional policies\nutilizing DOM, IIPP, current Hazardous Material Guidelines and professional\nknowledge, as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;<strong>Grind\n(remove burs, rust, jagged edges, etc.), etch, prime and finish paint metal for\npreventative maintenance, in order to preserve the life expectancy of coated\nsurfaces (e.g., beds, lockers, grill gates, etc.) utilizing\npersonal\/professional knowledge, current Hazardous Material Guidelines, DOM,\nand IIPP, etc., as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;<strong>Prepare\nand finish newly installed or heavily damaged drywall for painting to meet\ninstitutional program and security needs, federal and state mandates, etc.,\nutilizing various hand tools (e.g., drywall blades, razor knives, mud pans,\netc.), under the direction of the Painter III or supervisor, as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;<strong>Clean\nsurfaces (e.g., concrete, metal, wood, and asphalt, etc.) with pressure washer\nto remove debris and corrosive material from surfaces prior to paint, utilizing\noperational service manuals, proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),\nprofessional knowledge, etc. under the direction of the Painter III or\nsupervisor, as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;<strong>Replace\nand glaze broken windows on various structures to meet institutional and\nsecurity needs, etc., utilizing PPE, man lifts, glazing knife, and glass\ncutting tools, etc. under the direction of the Painter III or supervisor, as\nneeded.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.\n&nbsp;<strong>Create\nsignage layout on buildings\/structures, roadways and equipment, etc. to meet\nthe needs of the institution and ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and\ncodes utilizing DOM, Title 15, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Americans\nwith Disabilities Act (ADA), under the direction of the Painter III or\nsupervisor, as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.\n&nbsp;<strong>Complete\nDemand Work Orders for institutional departments to meet the daily operational\nneeds of a correctional facility utilizing paint shop\/maintenance warehouse\nmaterials, on an ongoing basis. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.\n&nbsp;<strong>Supervise\ninmates\/youthful offenders committed to the Department of Corrections and\nRehabilitation in order to prevent escapes and injuries to themselves or others\nand to secure property utilizing SOMS, DOM, Title 15, etc., on a daily basis.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21.\n&nbsp;<strong>Inspect\nassigned shop (e.g., locking devices, tool cages, conditions of tools, tool\ninventories, conduct contraband searches, hazardous material inventory, etc.)\nto ensure in compliance with current CDCR policies utilizing various resources\n(e.g., DOM, Title 15, IIPP, Hazardous Material Guidelines, etc.), on a daily\nbasis.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22.\n&nbsp;<strong>Communicate\nin a professional manner utilizing tact, interpersonal skills, etc. to\nestablish and maintain effective working relationships with others (e.g.,\nemployees, public, inmates\/youthful offenders, etc.) in order to determine and\nresolve various issues, as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23.\n&nbsp;<strong>Perform\nthe duties of a Painter III in his\/her absence to ensure continued operation of\nthe institution prevent injuries to be in compliance with IIPP and OSHA directives\nutilizing Manufacturer\u2019s recommendations and industrial standards on a daily\nbasis.<\/strong>
