Controller\u2019s Office Filled\/Vacant Position Report dated 03\/2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>EDITED TASK LISTING<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>NOTE:\nEach position within this classification may perform some or all of these\ntasks.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Task Statements:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1.\n&nbsp;Coordinate with departmental\nsupervisors, trades people, custody\/medical staff, contractors and vendors\nregarding repair projects, to make sure work is completed correctly and in a\ntimely manner using Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS), interpersonal\nskills, personal knowledge\/experience, etc. as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\n&nbsp;Requisition tools, materials, supplies\nand equipment needed to verify proper operation of the paint shop and to meet\nthe needs of the institution using purchase requisition forms (Form 954),\nwritten justifications, bids, recycle contract, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Repair damaged surfaces to prepare them\nfor priming and finishing of buildings, structures, and other surfaces (i.e.\ndry wall, masonry, metal, doors\/frames, window trim, etc.) to meet\ninstitutional operational procedures and security needs, California Building\nCode \u2013 Title 24 (Title 24), etc., by using personal knowledge and experience,\nStandard Automated Preventive Maintenance System (SAPMS), Injury and Illness\nPrevention Program (IIPP), California Occupational Safety and Health\nAdministration (Cal-OSHA) requirements, and proper painting equipment as\nrequired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Paint\/stain various woodwork, metal,\nmasonry, drywall, etc. to protect surfaces using SAPMS, Cal-OSHA, IIPP,\npersonal knowledge\/experience and proper painting equipment as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Repair broken windows on various\nbuildings to meet institutional operational procedures and security needs,\nAmericans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other federal and state mandates by\nusing SAPMS, Cal-OSHA, IIPP, Hazardous Material Guidelines, and personal\nknowledge\/experience, proper glazing tools and equipment as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Respond to Work Orders (ADA\nrequirements, institutional security, health, life, and safety [Priority 1],\nPreventative Maintenance, and Demand) received through SAPMS to meet daily\noperational needs of the facility using Hazardous Material Guidelines,\nCal-OSHA, IIPP, personal knowledge\/experience, proper glazing tools, and\nequipment as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Inspect and report on the completion or\nprogress of Work Orders (Priority 1, Preventative Maintenance, and Demand) to\nmake sure work is completed effectively and to record labor and materials costs\non work orders using personal knowledge\/experience as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Communicate in a professional and\neffective manner with supervisors and others to provide and obtain information,\nestablishing an effective working relationship using tact, interpersonal\nskills, Title 24, etc. in all situations at all times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Plan the work of Painter II and inmates\nengaged in the operations, maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings, and\nother surfaces (i.e. dry wall, masonry, metal, doors\/frames, window trim,\netc.), to make sure work is completed, and to meet institutional operational\nprocedures and security needs using SAPMS, Cal-OSHA, IIPP, personal\nknowledge\/experience, proper tools and equipment as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Lead the work of Painter II and inmates\nengaged in the operations, maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings,\nstructures, and other surfaces (i.e. dry wall, masonry, metal, doors\/frames,\nwindow trim, etc.), to make sure work is completed, and to meet institutional\noperational procedures and security needs using SAPMS, Cal-OSHA, IIPP, personal\nknowledge\/experience, proper tools and equipment as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;Supervise individuals committed to the\nCalifornia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) while\nmaintaining the safety and security of the institution, preventing escapes and\ninjuries by inmates to themselves or others, in the performance of daily\nactivities using interpersonal skills, heightened awareness of the surroundings\nas required by departmental policies on a continuous basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Evaluate the work performance of inmates\nto confirm quality standards and services, identify training needs, and\nrecommend corrective actions using interpersonal skills, correctional\nawareness, Supervisory Reports (Form CDC 101), General Chrono (Form CDC 128),\nRules Violation Report (Form CDC 115), SOMS, etc. on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Advise supervisor of the selection and\nprocurement of painting materials, tools, and equipment for projects and\nmaintenance to meet the needs of the institution using written justifications,\nbids, recycle contract, etc. as required by departmental operational procedures\nas needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Prepare estimates for a variety of jobs\nto include labor, materials, tools, and equipment to identify and provide\nsupervisor with the necessary information for cost analysis, planning and developing\nprojects using personal knowledge, blueprints, rough sketches, vendors, laws,\nrules, codes, regulations, policies, institutional operational procedures, etc.\nas needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;Prepare and maintain records and reports\n(i.e. SDS, inmate timekeeping, staff and inmate safety training, tool control,\netc.) to provide information for institutional use and comply with stipulated\nlaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, etc., using Departmental\nOperations Manual (DOM), SOMS, Title 24, institutional operational procedures,\nIIPP, etc. on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;Inspect the paint shop (i.e. keys,\nalarms, locking devices, tool cages, tool inventories, office supplies and\nequipment, etc.) to comply with stipulated laws, rules, regulations, policies\nand procedures by providing a safe and secure working environment using DOM,\nTitle 24, IIPP, personal knowledge, appropriate training, etc. on a continuous\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;Maintain security of assigned working\nareas through inspections and searches for contraband (weapons, illegal drugs,\netc.) and inventory of materials, CDCR 2280, tools, keys and locks in\naccordance with DOM, departmental policies, and procedures on a continuous\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.\n&nbsp;Interpret blueprints to identify\nspecific information (i.e. data, location, specifications, equipment,\nmaterials, etc.) for troubleshooting, projects, work order assignments, and\ncost estimates using personal knowledge, orientation, scale, etc. on a regular\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.\n&nbsp;Inspect scaffolding for defects and\nstructural integrity to confirm a safe work platform is utilized as stipulated\nby IIPP, Cal-OSHA, the manufacturer\u2019s instructional manual, and departmental\nguidelines as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.\n&nbsp;Maintain the safety and security of\npersons and property, to prevent escape of, and injury to persons committed to\nthe CDCR to themselves or others or to property in accordance with DOM,\ndepartmental policies and procedures, and the California Code of Regulations on\na continuous basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21. &nbsp;Operate various types of painting equipment at a journeyman level in a safe and practical manner to complete projects\/work orders using individual skill and proficiency, IIPP, Cal\/OSHA, the manufacturer\u2019s instructional manual, and departmental guidelines as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22.\n&nbsp;<strong>Act<\/strong>\n<strong>as supervisor in his\/her absence to\nguarantee continued operations of the institution, utilizing personal knowledge\nand experience, DOM, institutional operational procedures, and departmental\npolicies per institutional needs. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23.\n&nbsp;<strong>Resolve\nconflicts involving Painter II, inmates, contractors, vendors, other\ninstitutional staff etc. using interpersonal and facilitation skills to achieve\nand maintain a cohesive, productive work environment in accordance with\ndepartmental policies and procedures as necessary. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24.\n&nbsp;<strong>Maintain\nand promote a work environment free of discrimination and harassment in\naccordance with the department\u2019s policies on sexual harassment and treatment of\npeople to produce a hostile-free workplace utilizing Equal Employment\nOpportunity policies (EEO), DOM, institutional operational procedures and\nappropriate training, etc., on a continuous basis.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25.\n&nbsp;<strong>Attend<\/strong>\n<strong>departmental training classes as\nmandated by the department for managers and supervisors
