policies, procedures, medical reference materials, medical\nknowledge, communication skills, etc. as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. \u00a0Perform medical, surgical, and diagnostic procedures (e.g., suturing, incision and drainage, endotracheal intubation, biopsy, endoscopy, pap smears, excision, etc.) in order to diagnose, treat, or prevent inmate patients\u2019 illnesses and injuries and to promote inmate health, utilizing surgical skills, medical knowledge, medical skills, medications, policies, procedures, medical instruments, medical reference materials, communication skills, etc. as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Order laboratory examinations and\nanalyses, x-rays\/imaging and other diagnostic tests in order to diagnose,\nmanage, and\/or prevent inmate patients\u2019 illnesses and injuries and to promote\ninmate health, utilizing policies, procedures, medical reference materials,\nmedical knowledge, communication skills, etc. as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Manage medical problems in the inpatient\nand outpatient setting (including making rounds in the hospital, outpatient\nhousing unit, or Correctional Treatment Center (CTC)) to facilitate continuity\nof care and appropriate management of the patients\u2019 medical conditions\nutilizing medical knowledge, applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies,\nprocedures, communication skills, documentation, etc. as needed and\/or assigned\nby the supervising physician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.&nbsp; Conduct peer review, utilization review, and\nquality review to evaluate, document, and improve the quality and\nappropriateness of inmate patient care utilizing patient\u2019s unit health record\nand other documents (e.g., court records, letters from inmate family, etc.),\nmedical knowledge, laws, rules, regulations, court mandates, lab tests, etc. as\nassigned by the supervising physician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;Educate inmate patients about their\nmedical conditions, to facilitate their participation in their health care and\nencourage self-responsibility for their health, utilizing medical knowledge,\ninformation about their specific disorder and treatment, patient handouts,\nvideos, communication skills, policies and procedures, etc. as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Instruct nurses, technicians, and other\npersonnel in order to maintain the standard of care, promote effective\nutilization, and ensure compliance with laws, rules, policies, etc. utilizing\nmedical knowledge, training skills, laws, rules, policies, procedures,\ncommunication skills, videos, demonstration equipment, etc. as assigned by the\nsupervising physician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Clinically supervise nurses,\ntechnicians, and other personnel in order to maintain the interpersonal skills, heightened awareness of the\nsurroundings, knowledge of the prison system and inmates, alarm systems, tool\ncontrol policies, inmate searches, etc. as dictated by departmental
