class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Task Statements:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1.\n&nbsp;Maintain plumbing components throughout\nthe institution (e.g. underground utilities, valves, fixtures, pumps, etc.) to\nincrease life expectancy of equipment utilizing various resources (e.g.\nplumbing codes, manufacturers specifications, institutional operational\nprocedures, etc.), on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\n&nbsp;Lead the work of inmates in the\noperation, installation, maintenance, alteration and repair of plumbing\ncomponents to ensure proper completion of work utilizing the work order system\nand available resources (e.g. Standard Automated Preventive Maintenance System\n[SAPMS], Injury and Illness Prevention Program [IIPP], institutional\noperational procedures, plumbing codes, etc.) as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Perform the operation, installation,\nmaintenance, alteration and repair of plumbing components for the institution\nutilizing the work order system, professional knowledge and available resources\n(e.g. SAPMS, IIPP, institutional operational procedures, plumbing codes, etc.)\nas required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Inspect the work of inmates in the\noperation, installation, maintenance, alteration and repair of plumbing\ncomponents to ensure proper completion of work utilizing professional knowledge\nand various resources (e.g. SAPMS, IIPP, institutional operational procedures,\nplumbing codes, etc.) as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Supervise inmates to maintain safety and\nsecurity of work areas\/materials utilizing interpersonal skills, heightened\nawareness of the surroundings, Title 15, Departmental Operations Manual [DOM],\netc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Coordinate with chain of command, other\nmaintenance trades and institutional program staff regarding facility projects\nand repairs to ensure completion of work utilizing interpersonal skills and\navailable resources (e.g., DOM, institutional operational procedures, etc.) as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. &nbsp;Inspect\/maintain the plumbing shop (e.g., keys, alarms, locking devices, tool cages, tool inventories, etc.) to ensure compliance with institutional policies\/procedures and provide a safe\/secure working environment utilizing available resources (e.g., DOM, Title 15, Cal\/OSHA, etc.) on a continuous basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Complete preventative maintenance work\norders for the institution to ensure timely repair and maintenance of plumbing\nsystems in accordance with plumbing codes and institutional operational\nprocedures (SAPMS) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Address conflicts with inmates and\/or\ninstitutional staff in order to achieve and maintain a cohesive work\nenvironment utilizing interpersonal skills in accordance with departmental\npolicies as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Maintain key and tool control and the\nsafety and security of the institution in order to prevent escape and injury to\ninmates and\/or institutional staff utilizing departmental policies (e.g., DOM,\nTitle 15) on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;Submit a requisition request of\nmaterials and supplies to purchase and maintain sufficient inventory for repair\nand maintenance of plumbing systems utilizing state purchasing procedures as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Prepare cost estimates for supervision\non a variety of jobs to include labor, materials, tools, equipment, etc., to\nidentify the necessary information for cost analysis, planning and development\nproject, utilizing various resources (e.g., internet, personal knowledge,\nvendor quotes, codes, rules\/regulations, etc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Prepare job lay out for supervision to\nensure materials, equipment, tools and labor resources are available using\nwarehouse requisitions and tool inventories, for scheduling a project and\nnotification of affected areas within the institution, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Repair\/maintain water, air, gas, and\nsewer lines and systems throughout the institution to provide a plumbing system\nthat meets institutional program needs, security needs, and federal and state\nmandate utilizing various resources (uniform plumbing codes, health and safety codes,\nCalifornia Fire Code, American Disability Act [ADA], etc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;Cut\/ thread pipe and solder or braze\ncopper joints on water, gas, or drainage systems to repair or replace\npipelines, or to connect plumbing fixtures utilizing pipe threading machine or\npropane torch as needed throughout the institution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;Connect\/ maintain hot water tanks, gas\nheaters, and furnaces in order to provide hot water and heat to housing units,\nresidences and administrative offices throughout the institution, utilizing\nvarious tools and equipment, preventative maintenance work orders, and\noperation manuals as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;Unstop clogged lines to plumbing\nfixtures or sanitary sewer lines to maintain proper flow utilizing various\nresources (hand augers, automatic sewer machines, blow bags, and high pressure\ndrain jetters, operation manuals, IIPP, etc.), as necessary for staff\/inmates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.\n&nbsp;Perform preventative maintenance on\nwater line valves, emergency eye wash stations, water heaters, furnaces, and\ndrinking fountains to reduce cost and increase life expectancy utilizing\noperations manuals, and preventative work orders, to maintain the safety and\nsecurity of the institution as requested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.\n&nbsp;Install, inspect and maintain backflow\nprevention devices to prevent contamination of potable water system utilizing a\nbackflow testing device, hand tools, etc., for the Department of Public Health\nand\/or local water district as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.\n&nbsp;Troubleshoot institutional plumbing\nsystems to restore functionality and minimize interruption to institutional\nprograms, and operations, utilizing proper lock-out\/tag-out procedures, meters,\nvarious tools, and Uniform Plumbing Code [UPC], as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21.\n&nbsp;Communicate in a professional manner and\ndeal with confidential issues utilizing tact, interpersonal skills, etc. to\nestablish and maintain effective working relationships with others in order to\ndetermine and resolve various issues, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22.\n&nbsp;Respond to emergency call (e.g.,\nsanitary sewer overflow, water leaks, and plumbing fixture malfunction, etc.)\nin order to ensure the safety and security of the institution by utilizing and\nmaintaining a land line phone or cell phone, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23.\n&nbsp;Attend In-Service Training (IST) and\nOn-the-Job Training (OJT) in order to meet the minimum 40 hours per year of\nrequired training pursuant to the DOM to increase knowledge of current\nDepartmental procedures and policies, by utilizing In-Service Training (IST), bulletin,\nblock training, In-Service Training (IST) sign in sheets, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24.\n&nbsp;Maintain records and daily reports\n(e.g., inmate timesheets, daily work orders and time reports, tool control,\nvehicle log, etc.) to provide information for institutional use and assure\ncompliance with stipulated laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures,\netc., utilizing various resources (e.g., DOM, institutional operational\nprocedures, Inmate Work Training Incentive Program [IWTIP], IIPP, SOMS, etc.)\non a daily basis, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25.\n&nbsp;Prepare\/ maintain records and reports\n(e.g., Safety Data Sheets, staff and inmate safety training, tool inventory,\nperpetual chemical inventory, etc.) in order to provide information for\ninstitutional use and assure compliance stipulated by laws, rules, regulations,\npolicies, procedures, etc., utilizing various resources (e.g., DOM,\ninstitutional operational procedures, IIPP, etc.) for the safety and security\nof the institution as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26.\n&nbsp;Perform Preventative Maintenance Service\n(PMs) of plumbing equipment, to help prevent and eliminate equipment failure in\norder to ensure proper operation of plumbing systems, by utilizing manufacturer\nrecommendations, owner manuals, industry standards, etc., and maintaining\nservice records, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27.\n&nbsp;Advise in the storage of plumbing\nequipment and materials in order to ensure materials are stored correctly to\npreserve the integrity of the materials, utilizing proper storage methods\n(e.g., cargo boxes, warehouses, plumbing shops, shelving, etc.), and maintain\ncurrent inventory list as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28.\n&nbsp;Escort outside vendors and contractors\nto provide contracted service to the institution, in order to maintain the\nsafety and security of the institution (e.g., injury, escape, contraband, etc.)\nand assure compliance with stipulated rules, regulations, policies, procedures,\netc. utilizing, DOM, institutional operational procedures, IST, tool control,\nstaff accountability, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29.\n&nbsp;Assist in emergency situations (e.g.,\nsanitary sewer overflows, water main breaks, cell searches, other duties as\nrequired, etc.), to ensure the safety and security of the institution in order\nto help to prevent escape or injury to persons committed to the Department and\nstaff, utilizing DOM, institutional operational procedures, various tools, IIPP\ntraining, etc., as directed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30.\n&nbsp;Prepare a list of tools to ensure proper\npreparation and completion of specific jobs, task\/work orders, to meet\ninstitutional program needs, security needs and federal and state mandates,\n(e.g., fire life, safety codes, and energy conservation etc.), utilizing\ninstitutional operation procedures, personal experience, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31.\n&nbsp;Ensure tool\/equipment are properly\nmaintained to increase service life, prevent injuries, reduce down time, and\npromote efficient completion of preventative and demand
