etc.), to ensure proper completion of\nwork and meet institutional security and program needs utilizing the work order\nsystem, and available resources (e.g., Standard Automated Preventive maintenance, alteration and\nrepair of plumbing components (e.g., underground utilities, valves, fixtures,\nbackflow assemblies, etc.), to ensure proper completion of work and meet\ninstitutional security and program needs utilizing the work order system and\navailable resources (e.g. SAPMS, IIPP, California Code of Regulations, Code of\nFederal Regulations, California Fire Code, UPC, institutional operational\nprocedures, personal experience, plumbing tools, testers, etc.), as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6.\n\u00a0Supervise individuals committed to the\nCalifornia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to maintain\nsecurity of work areas and materials in the performance of daily activities\n(e.g., prevent escapes, injuries by inmates to themselves or others, damage to\nproperty, etc.), utilizing interpersonal skills, heightened awareness of the\nsurroundings, and departmental policies\/procedures, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7.\n\u00a0Coordinate with departmental trades\npeople, and other institutional staff, contractors and vendors regarding\nprojects, (e.g., utility shutdowns, preventative maintenance and repairs of\nfacilities, etc.), to ensure the work is completed utilizing interpersonal\nskills, UPC, California Occupational Safety and Health Administration\n[Cal-OSHA], etc.), as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8.\n\u00a0Advise the supervisor in the selection\nof plumbing materials (e.g., tools, equipment, parts, etc.), in order to meet\nthe needs of the institution, utilizing catalogs, UPC, departmental design\ncriteria guidelines, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9.\n\u00a0Prepare job cost estimates (e.g., labor,\nmaterials, tools and equipment, etc.), to provide supervisor with the necessary\ninformation for cost analysis, planning and developing projects, utilizing\npersonal knowledge, blueprints, rough sketches, cost estimate books, etc., as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10.\n\u00a0Requisition of tools, materials,\nsupplies and equipment to ensure proper operation of plumbing shop utilizing\nprocurement forms as required by the institutional operational procedures,\netc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">11.\n\u00a0Interpret blueprints to ensure work is\ndone according to plans and specifications, utilizing professional knowledge,\norientation, scale, etc., as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">12.\n\u00a0<strong>Evaluate\nthe work performance of inmates to ensure quality standards and services,\nidentify training needs, recommend corrective actions, etc. utilizing rating\nguides, incentive programs, evaluation forms, etc. as required. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">13.\n\u00a0<strong>Inspect\nthe plumbing shop (e.g., keys, alarms, tool inventories, etc.), to ensure\ncompliance stipulated by laws, rules, regulations, policies\/procedures by\nproviding a safe and secure working environment utilizing the Departmental\nOperational Manual [DOM], Title 15, IIPP, personal knowledge, etc., on a\ncontinuous basis. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">14.\n\u00a0<strong>Maintain\ntool, key and lock control to prevent inmate access to unauthorized areas\nutilizing the \u201cchit\u201d system, tool log, missing tool report, correctional\nawareness, etc. to maintain compliance with departmental rules, regulations and\nprocedures, on a daily basis. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">15.\n\u00a0<strong>Inspect\nand search assigned working areas for contraband (e.g., weapons or illegal\ndrugs, etc.), to maintain security, in accordance with DOM, departmental\npolicies and procedures, Title 15, California Code of Regulations, on a\ncontinuous basis. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">16.\n\u00a0<strong>Prepare\nrecords and painters, carpenters,\nelectricians, engineers, etc.), in order to complete projects in accordance\nwith Supervisor of Building Trades, Correctional Plant Supervisor, Correctional\nPlant Manager I\/II, etc., as needed. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">20.\n\u00a0<strong>Act\nas the Supervisor of Building Trades or Utility Shop Supervisor in his\/her\nabsence to ensure continued operations of the institution, utilizing\nprofessional knowledge and experience, and departmental policies, as required.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">21.\n\u00a0<strong>Respond\nto work orders and maintenance requests from various departments within the\ninstitution, to ensure timely repair and maintenance of plumbing systems, in\naccordance with the California Building Standards Code, National Building Code,\nUniform Building Code and UPC, as needed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">22.\n\u00a0<strong>Promote\na work environment free of discrimination and harassment to produce a hostile\nfree workplace, in accordance with the department\u2019s Equal and\napplication of policies\/procedures to improve job skills, knowledge and safety\nawareness utilizing classroom training, on the job training, mentoring, etc.,\nas needed.<\/strong>
