classification may perform some or all of these\ntasks.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Task Statements:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1.\n&nbsp;Assist clients in the program\nderivation, planning, development of architectural plans elevations, materials,\ncolors, finishes for minor\/major capital outlay and Special Repair projects to\nensure code compliance and project requirements are met using various resources\n(e.g., Design Criteria Guidelines (DCG), California Building Code (CBC),\npolicies, Department of Operation Manual (DOM), etc.) as scheduled on a\nstatewide prioritized list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;2. &nbsp;Manage\nin-house and consultant design projects that are architectural in nature with\nemphasis on the coordination of architectural features with various engineering\ndisciplines during the development stage to ensure conceptual design conforms\nto the requirements of the Capital Outlay Budget Change Proposal (COBCP) and\nProject Workbook utilizing weekly scheduled meetings and Project Scheduler on\nan as needed basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Coordinate architectural and engineering\ndisciplines during the design and construction phases of projects of various\ncomplexity and those having statewide implications to ensure buildings are\nbeing designed and constructed according to the plans and specifications\nutilizing various resources (e.g., plans, specifications, knowledge of\nconstruction, etc.) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\nCreate architectural plans and designs for buildings and groups of buildings\nfor a variety of clients which have difficult architectural problems utilizing\nComputer Aided Drafting and Design (AutoCAD), Revit, Adobe Pro, etc.) on a\ndaily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Direct the work of engineering, security\nand planning teams to produce complete and accurate documents and\/or\ncorrespondence utilizing various resources (e.g., CBC, manuals, interpersonal\nskills, industry standard techniques, etc.) as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Interact with personnel (e.g., Capital\nPlanning and Project Services Branch [CPPSB], Facilities Asset Management\nBranch [FAMB], procurement staff, Institutions Division, Health Care Services\nDivision, etc.) to provide information, maintain design standards using CBC,\nmanuals, knowledge, interpersonal skills, industry standard techniques as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Interact with Construction Services\nBranch (CSB), state construction supervisors, institution staff and capital\noutlay staff to provide information, resolve construction issues, ensure\nconstruction quality, maintain design standards using CBC, manuals, knowledge,\ninterpersonal skills, industry standard techniques, etc. within specified\ntimeframes on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Train staff to improve their knowledge\nand skills utilizing various resources (e.g., classroom, on-the-job, mentoring,\netc.) as required for their job performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Produce design and construction\ndocuments of varying complexity to accurately define the building construction\nparameters and quality, using various resources (e.g., AutoCAD, Standard Design\nDocuments [SDD] and specifications, etc.) as required for each project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Participate in the development of\nprocedures and office standards relating to various functions of the\nArchitectural Unit to ensure consistency, compliance and conformity with\ndepartmental and branch policies using Microsoft Word documents, Adobe Pro as\nrequired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\nReview Section 6.00 of the Budget Act, Service Requests and Branch Assignments\nto provide recommendations and information to the CPPSB, Institutions and\nBranch Chiefs using various resources (e.g., CBC, site investigations,\nknowledge, DCG, etc.) as requested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\nRespond to emergency request to resolve various safety or security design\nissues using site investigations, laboratory testing, knowledge, CBC, etc. as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Review and approve in-house designs for\naccessible requirements to ensure compliance with Americans with Disabilities\nAct (ADA) and Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCR) utilizing\nCertified Access Specialist (CASp) as mandated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Act in the absence of the Supervising Architect\nto ensure the continued efficient operation of the Architectural Unit using\nvarious resources (e.g., personal experience, knowledge, etc.) as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;Prepare effective written correspondence\nfor management and institution personnel in order to provide analysis,\ndirection and\/or information using various resources (e.g., software, hardware,\nreference manuals, plans, specifications, etc.) as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;Communicate in a professional and\neffective manner with others utilizing tact and interpersonal skills to provide\naccurate information and to establish and maintain effective working\nrelationships in all situations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;Perform on-site construction observation\nto ensure conformance with codes, specifications and the Testing and Inspection\nProgram utilizing visual observation, reporting procedures, etc. as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.\n&nbsp;Evaluate all construction packages\n(plans, specifications, required forms, etc.) submitted by consultants for\ncompleteness to ensure uniformity, consistency and compliance with CBC and ADA\nusing a personal computer on a weekly basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.\nAssist FAMB, Project Management Branch (PMB) and their design professionals in\ndeveloping comprehensive submittal packages by utilizing knowledge of the\nvarious codes, consulting with clients as requested to ensure that submittal\npackages (e.g., plans, specifications, required forms, etc.) are complete to be\nin accordance with the CBC on an on-going basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.\n&nbsp;Assist client with various project\ndocuments and reports that can be used to establish scopes, budgets and\nschedules as required to support the client\u2019s funding request with the\nDepartment of Finance (DOF) in accordance with applicable regulations,\nlegislative mandates and client requirements on a quarterly basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21.\n&nbsp;Assist with the initial planning and\ndevelopment of future projects by doing site assessments as requested by the\nclients in order to manage and produce documents for projects in accordance\nwith applicable regulations, legislative mandates and client requirements on an\non-going basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22.\n&nbsp;Coordinate with staff and CSB to\ninitiate, negotiate and issue Change Orders on projects using CDCR policies and\nprocedures under the direction of the Supervising Architect on a bi-weekly\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23.\n&nbsp;Act as lead technical advisor to clients\non issues regarding accessibility\/access compliance in the preliminary and plan\nreview process using the knowledge of design and construction, plan review\nprocess and applicable code requirements to ensure conformance with CBC and ADA\non a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24.\n&nbsp;Monitor the work of the architectural\nstaff to ensure quality and compliance with applicable code requirements\nutilizing the CDCR policies and procedures on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25.\n&nbsp;Enter corrections and deficiencies of\nthe submitted construction document into the Project Information Management\nSystem (PIMS) for the consultant architect to make the necessary corrections to\ncomply with the applicable energy and building codes, regulations, following\nCDCR policies and procedures on an as needed basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26.\n&nbsp;Assist project staff with Addenda,\nChange Orders and Deferred Approvals on the projects to ensure compliance with\nenergy and building codes and regulations following CDCR policies and\nprocedures on an as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27.\n&nbsp;Review the invoices for payment to\naccurately compensate consultants by signing the invoices after determining if\nthe payment is the appropriate amount for the accepted percentage of completed\ndesign work per CDCR policies and procedures on as needed basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28.\n&nbsp;Train staff to develop individual\nknowledge of laws and regulations related to accessibility and usability of\nbuilding and facilities by researching information sources such as State and\nFederal code resources, professional and industrial publications and\/or\ndisability community associations on an on-going basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29.\n&nbsp;Develop project drawings including but\nnot limited to plot plans, floor plans, elevations and sections for projects\nusing AutoCAD or Revit software in accordance with CDCR policies and procedures\nand generally accepted industry practice on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30.\n&nbsp;Coordinate all conflicts in the contract\ndocuments in a timely fashion through effective communication methods (e.g.,\nphone, e-mail, meetings, etc.) to assure project remains within the approved\nbudget and schedule utilizing CDCR policies and procedures on an on-going\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31.\n&nbsp;Provide expert assistance to\ninstitutional staff on projects that include historical or politically\nsensitive buildings and\/or structures by applying personal experience and\nknowledge utilizing CDCR policies and procedures on a periodically basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>32.\n&nbsp;Provide support and update of project\ndocumentation by identifying information necessary to maintain an accurate and\ncomplete historical record in the project folder utilizing CDCR policies and\nprocedures <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>K7.\n&nbsp;Basic knowledge of the principles of\nbudgeting to effectively use design methods and materials for construction\nprojects to remain within budgetary constraints.
