printers\/plotters) to\nensure Department\u2019s needs are met in accordance with the Department\u2019s mission,\nvision, and values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp; Train other engineers in the design and\npreparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates in connection with the\nconstruction or maintenance of a wide variety of engineering projects (e.g.,\nbuildings, bridges, roads, levees, ditches, retaining walls) using various\nresources (e.g., Building Codes, Regulations, computer hardware and software,\nhand drafting tools, printers\/plotters) to ensure Department\u2019s needs are on a\nvariety of engineering and\/or construction issues (e.g., Capital Outlay Budget\nChange Proposals, procurement documents, design of projects, service requests,\nbudget preparation and purchases, cost analysis, progress reports) to provide\nguidance, information, and recommendations using various resources (e.g.,\nBuilding Codes, Regulations, computer hardware and software, hand drafting\ntools, printers\/plotters) in compliance with Federal, State, and Local\nRegulations and in accordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and\nvalues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp; Plan and direct field surveys on various\nconstruction projects (e.g., building structures, roads, pavement, drainage\nsystems, water treatment systems, and waste water systems) to produce designs,\ndrawings, and specifications using various resources (e.g., Building Codes,\nRegulations, computer hardware and software, survey equipment, hand drafting\ntools, printers\/plotters) in compliance with Federal, State, and Local\nRegulations and in accordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and\nvalues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp; Perform or direct the inspections of\nstructures (e.g., emergency command centers, forest fire stations, Helitack\nbases) under construction and\/or repair using Building Codes, Regulations,\nplans and specifications to ensure conformity with construction documents in\naccordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Perform value engineering on various\nprojects (e.g., building structures, roads, pavement, drainage systems, water\ntreatment and waste water systems) in order to produce a report suggesting ways\nto reduce costs using various resources (e.g., calculators, Building Codes,\nRegulations, computer hardware and software, hand drafting tools,\nprinters\/plotters) in accordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and\nvalues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.&nbsp; Conduct specialized technical studies and\ninvestigations (e.g., gray water systems, structural stability, soil stability)\nand performs the research necessary to produce comprehensive reports making\nrecommendations on engineering problems using various resources (e.g., Building\nCodes, Regulations, calculators, computer hardware and software, survey\nequipment, hand drafting tools, printers\/plotters) to comply with applicable\nFederal, State, and Local Regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.&nbsp; Coordinate and prioritize tasks for timely\ncompletion of projects using a design schedule and assignment schedule under\nthe direction of the Supervising Civil Engineer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Report current project status to\nSupervising Civil Engineer and management to update him\/her using experience\nand technical knowledge (e.g., scheduling software, time estimation skills, and\nknowledge of prior project history). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.&nbsp; Perform technical review of other entities\u2019\nplans and specifications (e.g., fire stations, unit headquarters, emergency\ncommand centers) using technical knowledge and experience to ensure conformity\nto the Department\u2019s design criteria guidelines, Building Codes, Regulations,\nconstruction suitability, and the Capital Outlay Budget Change Proposal in\naccordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.&nbsp; Provide construction support (e.g., submittal\nreview, shop drawing review, request for information review, change order\nreview, consultation with construction supervisors) to a wide variety of\nprojects to ensure conformity with the plans and specifications using technical\nknowledge, Building Codes, Regulations in accordance with the Department\u2019s\nmission, vision, and values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Manage projects contracted to outside\nconsultants, architects, and engineers to produce plans, specifications, and\nreports (e.g., Geotechnical, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), infrastructure\nsystem proposals) using management skills, experience, and technical knowledge\nin accordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Perform the more difficult phases of\ncomplex engineering problems using technical knowledge, experience, and various\nresources (e.g., Building Codes, Regulations, calculators, computer hardware\nand software, survey equipment, hand drafting tools, printers\/plotters) in\naccordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;Supervise the maintenance of engineering\nrecords (e.g., \u201cas-builts\u201d, reports, studies) using various resources (e.g.,\ncomputer hardware and software, printers\/plotters, file management) for future\nDepartment needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.&nbsp; Analyze proposed project scope to ensure\nconformance with the Capital Outlay Budget Change Proposal as approved by the\nDepartment of Finance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.&nbsp; Take appropriate action on acts of\ndiscrimination (e.g., sex, race, age) to correct inappropriate behavior in\naccordance with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office and Department\npolicies and procedures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18.&nbsp; Assist the Supervising Civil Engineer in the\ntracking of the Major and Minor Capital Outlay programs and Department Repairs\nby attending and conducting meetings (e.g., government agencies, private\nconsultants, subordinate staff) in order to determine and meet set schedules in\naccordance with the Department\u2019s mission, vision, and values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19.&nbsp; Monitor the planning, design, and\nconstruction phases of Department projects (e.g., fire stations, unit\nheadquarters, emergency command centers) in order to report progress to the\nTechnical Services Chief and the Capital Outlay Command (CAPCOM) committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.&nbsp; Plan and direct engineering work involved in\nbudget preparation, purchases, cost analysis, and progress reports on various\nconstruction projects in order to meet the operational needs of the Department\nin
