Designs,\nprepares and coordinates electrical engineer drawings (e.g., lighting, power,\ncontrol wiring, substation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.) specifications,\nand estimates in connection with the construction or maintenance of a variety\nof projects, including institutional and office buildings, roads, pumping\nplants, radio stations, and similar structures using various resources (e.g.,\nvarious computer hardware and software, hand drafting tools, personal\nexperience, etc.) and building codes (e.g., California Building Code [CBC],\nNational Fire Protection Association [NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or directed by\nimmediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\nPerforms technical design review on projects at various stages (e.g., Capitol\nOutlay Budget Change Proposal [COBCP], Budget Packages, preliminary plans,\nworking drawings, project reports, etc.) completed by other entities (e.g.,\nDepartment of General Services [DGS], private consultants, institutions plant\noperations, etc.) in order to ensure conformity to building codes, Department\nof Correction\u2019s [CDC] design criteria guidelines, and construction suitability\nutilizing personal technical knowledge and experience as needed and\/or directed\nby immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp; Performs material take-off and cost estimates\nof electrical work on a wide variety of projects (e.g., lighting, power,\ncontrol wiring, substation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.) to establish costs\nusing various resources (e.g., various computer hardware and software, hand\ndrafting tools, personal experience, etc.) and building codes (e.g., California\nBuilding Code [CBC], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA], etc.) as\nneeded and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp; Reviews purchase requisitions for\nconstruction work regarding electrical equipment for a wide variety of\nprojects, including institutional and office buildings, roads, pumping plants,\nsubstations, radio stations, and similar structures, etc. to ensure conformity\nto plans and specifications using personal experience, plans and\nspecifications, as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp; Performs inspections of electrical\nengineering aspects of structures under construction and\/or repair to ensure\nconformity to plans and specifications using personal experience, volt meter,\namp meter, plans, specifications, etc., as needed and\/or directed by immediate\nsupervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp; Conducts specialized investigations and\ntechnical studies to produce complete and comprehensive written reports and\ncorrespondence making recommendations on electrical engineering issues (e.g.,\nlighting, power, control wiring, substation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.,)\nusing various resources (e.g., various computer hardware and software, hand\ndrafting tools, personal experience, etc.) and building codes, (e.g.,\nCalifornia Building Code [CBC], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA],\netc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\nProvides electrical engineering construction support (e.g., submittal review,\nshop drawing review, change order review, responses to requests for\ninformation, consultation with construction supervisors, etc.) to a wide\nvariety of projects including institutional and office buildings, roads,\npumping plants, substations, radio stations, and similar structures, etc. to\nensure conformity of plans and specifications using plans and specifications,\npersonal experience, technical knowledge, building codes (e.g., California\nBuilding Code [CBC], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA], etc.) as\nneeded and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\nPerforms field surveys of existing electrical engineering conditions for\nvarious construction projects including institutional and office buildings,\nroads, pumping plants, substations, radio stations, and similar structures,\netc. to produce drawings, designs, and specifications using various resources\n(e.g., various computer hardware and software, hand drafting tools, personal\nexperience, etc.) as needed and\/or directed by the immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\nRepresents the Department, in formal or informal settings, regarding electrical\nengineering matters at meetings, conferences, hearings, legal depositions,\netc., to obtain or provide information and\/or represent the interest of the\nDepartment utilizing interpersonal skills, professionalism, personal expertise,\netc., as needed and\/or upon request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\nAccurately interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, departmental policies\nand procedures, etc. regarding electrical engineering issues in order to gain\nan understanding and apply them as needed and\/or upon request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\nAppropriately handle stressful situations in the work place, in a professional\nand tactful manner, with a goal of avoiding further escalation by utilizing\neffective interpersonal skills per departmental policies as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\nTrains other engineers in the design of and preparation of electrical aspects\n(e.g., lighting, power, control wiring, substation, low voltage, high voltage,\netc.) of drawings, specifications, estimates, construction inspections and\nfield surveys in connection with the construction or maintenance of a variety\nof engineering projects including institutional and office buildings, roads,\npumping plants, substations, radio stations, and similar structures utilizing\nvarious resources (e.g., various computer hardware and software, hand drafting\ntools, personal experience, etc.) and building codes (e.g., California Building\nCode [CBC], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or\ndirected by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\nPerforms value engineering (cost saving analysis) on electrical aspects of\nvarious projects including institutional and office buildings, roads, pumping\nplants, substations, radio stations, and similar structures to produce a report\nsuggesting ways to reduce costs utilizing various resources (e.g., various\ncomputer hardware and software, hand drafting tools, personal experience, etc.)\nand building codes (e.g., California Building Code [CBC], National Fire\nProtection Association [NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate\nsupervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\nReports current project status to supervisor to update him or her on weekly\nbasis using personal experience (e.g., time estimate skills, knowledge of prior\nproject history, etc.) and technical knowledge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\nManages projects contracted to outside architects and engineers to produce code\ncompliant and departmental design criteria guideline compliant plans,\nspecifications and studies using management skills, negotiation skills, personal experience,\nand technical knowledge, etc. as needed and\/or directed by supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.&nbsp; Acts in the absence of supervisor to ensure\ncontinued efficient operation of the electrical engineering unit using various\nresources (e.g., personal experience and knowledge, etc.) as needed and\/or\ndirected by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\nReviews other electrical engineers\u2019 plans, specifications, and reports in order\nto ensure conformity to building codes, CDC design criteria guidelines,\nconstruction suitability using personal technical knowledge and experience as\nneeded and\/or directed by immediate supervisor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 information to\ninstitutions, contractors, suppliers, etc. for quality construction work and\naccurate as-built drawings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>K2.\n&nbsp;Comprehensive knowledge of electrical\nengineering fundamentals (e.g., electrical theory and practice, modern\nelectrical equipment, power distribution, control systems, illumination design,\netc.) and mathematics in order to perform various
