wiring,\nsubstation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.) specifications, and estimates in\nconnection with the construction or maintenance of a variety of projects,\nincluding institutional and office buildings, roads, pumping plants, radio\nstations, and similar structures using various resources (e.g., various computer\nhardware and software, hand drafting tools, personal experience, etc.) and\nbuilding codes (e.g., California Building Code [CBC], National Fire Protection\nAssociation [NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\n&nbsp;Performs technical design review on\nprojects at various stages (e.g., Capitol Outlay Budget Change Proposal\n[COBCP], Budget Packages, preliminary plans, working drawings, project reports,\netc.) completed by other entities (e.g., Department of General Services [DGS], private\nconsultants, institutions plant operations, etc.) in order to ensure conformity\nto building codes, Department of Correction\u2019s [CDC] design criteria guidelines,\nand construction suitability utilizing personal technical knowledge and\nexperience as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.\n&nbsp;Performs material take-off and cost\nestimates of electrical work on a wide variety of projects (e.g., lighting,\npower, control wiring, substation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.) to\nestablish costs using various resources (e.g., various computer hardware and\nsoftware, hand drafting tools, personal experience, etc.) and building codes\n(e.g., California Building Code [CBC], National Fire Protection Association\n[NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\n&nbsp;Reviews purchase requisitions for\nconstruction work regarding electrical equipment for a wide variety of\nprojects, including institutional and office buildings, roads, pumping plants,\nsubstations, radio stations, and similar structures, etc. to ensure conformity\nto plans and specifications using personal experience, plans and\nspecifications, as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.\n&nbsp;Performs inspections of electrical\nengineering aspects of structures under construction and\/or repair to ensure\nconformity to plans and specifications using personal experience, volt meter,\namp meter, plans, specifications, etc., as needed and\/or directed by immediate\nsupervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\n&nbsp;Conducts specialized investigations and\ntechnical studies to produce complete and comprehensive written reports and\ncorrespondence making recommendations on electrical engineering issues (e.g.,\nlighting, power, control wiring, substation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.,)\nusing various resources (e.g., various computer hardware and software, hand\ndrafting tools, personal experience, etc.) and building codes, (e.g.,\nCalifornia Building Code [CBC], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA],\netc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\n&nbsp;Provides electrical engineering\nconstruction support (e.g., submittal review, shop drawing review, change order\nreview, responses to requests for information, consultation with construction\nsupervisors, etc.) to a wide variety of projects including institutional and\noffice buildings, roads, pumping plants, substations, radio stations, and\nsimilar structures, etc. to ensure conformity of plans and specifications using\nplans and specifications, personal experience, technical knowledge, building\ncodes (e.g., California Building Code [CBC], National Fire Protection\nAssociation [NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.\n&nbsp;Performs field surveys of existing\nelectrical engineering conditions for various construction projects including\ninstitutional and office buildings, roads, pumping plants, substations, radio\nstations, and similar structures, etc. to produce drawings, designs, and\nspecifications using various resources (e.g., various computer hardware and\nsoftware, hand drafting tools, personal experience, etc.) as needed and\/or\ndirected by the immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.\n&nbsp;Represents the Department, in formal or\ninformal settings, regarding electrical engineering matters at meetings,\nconferences, hearings, legal depositions, etc., to obtain or provide\ninformation and\/or represent the interest of the Department utilizing\ninterpersonal skills, professionalism, personal expertise, etc., as needed\nand\/or upon request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.\n&nbsp;Accurately interpret and apply laws,\nrules, regulations, departmental policies and procedures, etc. regarding\nelectrical engineering issues in order to gain an understanding and apply them\nas needed and\/or upon request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.\n&nbsp;Appropriately handle stressful\nsituations in the work place, in a professional and tactful manner, with a goal\nof avoiding further escalation by utilizing effective interpersonal skills per\ndepartmental policies as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12.\n&nbsp;Trains other engineers in the design of\nand preparation of electrical aspects (e.g., lighting, power, control wiring,\nsubstation, low voltage, high voltage, etc.) of drawings, specifications,\nestimates, construction inspections and field surveys in connection with the\nconstruction or maintenance of a variety of engineering projects including\ninstitutional and office buildings, roads, pumping plants, substations, radio\nstations, and similar structures utilizing various resources (e.g., various\ncomputer hardware and software, hand drafting tools, personal experience, etc.)\nand building codes (e.g., California Building Code [CBC], National Fire\nProtection Association [NFPA], etc.) as needed and\/or directed by immediate\nsupervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13.\n&nbsp;Performs value engineering (cost saving\nanalysis) on electrical aspects of various projects including institutional and\noffice buildings, roads, pumping plants, substations, radio stations, and\nsimilar structures to produce a report suggesting ways to reduce costs\nutilizing various resources (e.g., various computer hardware and software, hand\ndrafting tools, personal experience, etc.) and building codes (e.g., California\nBuilding Code [CBC], National Fire Protection Association [NFPA], etc.) as\nneeded and\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.\n&nbsp;Reports current project status to\nsupervisor to update him or her on weekly basis using personal experience (e.g.,\ntime estimate skills, knowledge of prior project history, etc.) and technical\nknowledge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15.\n&nbsp;Manages projects contracted to outside\narchitects and engineers to produce code compliant and departmental design\ncriteria guideline compliant plans, specifications and studies using management\nskills, negotiation skills, personal experience, and technical knowledge, etc.\nas needed and\/or directed by supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16.\n&nbsp;Acts in the absence of supervisor to\nensure continued efficient operation of the electrical engineering unit using\nvarious resources (e.g., personal experience and knowledge, etc.) as needed\nand\/or directed by immediate supervisor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17.\n&nbsp;Reviews other electrical engineers\u2019\nplans, specifications, and reports in order to ensure conformity to building\ncodes, CDC design criteria guidelines, construction suitability using personal\ntechnical knowledge and experience as needed and\/or directed by <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>K7.\n&nbsp;Basic knowledge of procedures of\nbuilding construction as it relates to the installation of electrical equipment\n(e.g., lighting, power, control wiring, substation, low
