<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1. &nbsp;Supervises the academic and\/or educational\nprogram of a state correctional adult school or juvenile high school to ensure\nquality services are provided to students through instructional leadership, by\nimplementing the departmentally approved education programs and by utilizing\nthe adopted curriculum on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. &nbsp;Reviews course content and training materials\nto aid in the education and rehabilitation process of students utilizing (e.g.,\nevidence based teaching methodologies, California Department of Education\nCurriculum Standards, and student assessment results\/scores), as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. &nbsp;Supervises the delivery and use of course\ncontent and training materials to aid in the education and rehabilitation\nprocess of students utilizing (e.g., evidence based teaching methodologies,\nCalifornia Department of Education Curriculum Standards, and student assessment\nresults\/scores), as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. &nbsp;Consults with appropriate stakeholders to\nresolve issues, provide information, and\/or propose options and recommendations\n(e.g., education mandates, departmental policies and procedures, safety and\nsecurity), utilizing the departmentally approved program, policies and\nprocedures, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. &nbsp;Takes action to improve performance of\nemployees utilizing professional development, performance evaluations,\ncorrective and disciplinary procedures, per approved State and Federal\nregulations on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. &nbsp;Oversees classes\/programs to confer with\nfacility and students to evaluate and improve methods and techniques of\nproviding services to students utilizing standard evaluation procedures (e.g.,\nevidence based practices, course syllabi, and professional standards), on an\nongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. &nbsp;Supervises staff in the delivery of\neducational support services to students in order to meet the individual\nstudent\u2019s educational needs and to ensure compliance with all Federal, State\nand departmental mandates, on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. &nbsp;Services as an administrator or team member on\na variety of multidisciplinary committees to evaluate individual student need\nand recommend educational programs utilizing assessments and educational\nrecords, on a regular basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. &nbsp;Analyzes student progress utilizing data-based\ndecision making to provide program accountability while determining the\neffectiveness of the educational program, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. &nbsp;Prepares accurate and effective communication\ndocuments (e.g., memos, reports, proposals, etc.) for management, staff, and\nothers utilizing current technology and software, in order to create and\nmaintain effective two-way communications, as appropriate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. &nbsp;Complies\/maintains accurate records to monitor\nschool operations, educational outcomes, budget and expenditures, etc.\nutilizing current technology and software, filing systems, support staff, etc.\nin order to maintain compliance and demonstrate program effectiveness, as\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. &nbsp;Participates in the development, review and\nexpenditure of funds related to budget and grant requirements utilizing various\ndata and provides reports\/updates to the principal, as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13. &nbsp;Participates in the management of the\neducation budget by making recommendations regarding the prioritization,\ntracking and monitoring of expenditures in accordance with Federal, State and\ndepartmental fiscal policy on an on-going basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14. &nbsp;Assists in the implementation of approved\npilot projects to test their effectiveness and validity utilizing departmental\napproved resources and materials under the direction of the Supervisor of\nCorrectional Education Programs (SCEP)\/Principal, as warranted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15. &nbsp;Oversees\/supervises the conduct of faculty,\nstaff and inmates\/youthful offenders in order to maintain security of work\nareas and materials, and prevent escape or injury by inmates\/youthful offenders\nto themselves, others or property as dictated by the department policy and\nprocedures, by personal observation, reviewing reports and effective\ncommunication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16. &nbsp;Creates\/maintains a professional learning\ncommunity and deals with problematic behaviors as dictated by department\npolicies and procedures on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17. &nbsp;Supervises faculty and staff in the\nadministration and security of all standardized testing using the required\ntesting protocols and procedures in order to ensure assessment results are\nvalid on an ongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18. &nbsp;Provides supervision of institutional\/school\nlibrary programs to comply with court mandates, education code, and\ndepartmental regulations on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19. &nbsp;Reviews, investigates, and\/or responds to\ninmates\/youthful offender appeals and\/or grievances to resolve issues, provides\ninformation, and make recommendations in compliance with Federal and State\nlaws, court mandates, departmental policies and procedures, on an ongoing\nbasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20. &nbsp;Evaluates facility and staff in order to\nensure performance objectives\/standards are met utilizing the individual\ndevelopment plan as required by the departmental policies and procedures, on an\nongoing basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21. &nbsp;Carries out supervisorial responsibilities in\nthe work place with regard to department wide mandates concerning Equal\nEmployment Opportunity (EEO) mandates, and other personnel practices as defined\nby regulatory agencies and established guidelines\/policies on an ongoing basis.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>26. &nbsp;Provides and\/or coordinates faculty and\/or\nstaff with professional development on assessments\/identification instruction\nmethods and strategies\/techniques to support students with special needs in\ncompliance with State and Federal laws, court mandates and regulations on an\non-going basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>27. &nbsp;Participates in interviews, conducts\nappropriate reference checks, evaluates and recommends candidates to fill\nidentified vacant positions in accordance with California Department of Human\nResources (CalHR) laws rules and regulations and departmental policies and\nprocedures, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28. &nbsp;Represents the department regarding\neducational matters at meetings, conferences, hearings, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29. &nbsp;Provides direction and resources to the faculty\nand staff in order to facilitate the school\u2019s accreditation process, site\nreviews and audits using the approved tools, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30. &nbsp;Assists the Principal in coordinating the\neducation program with other institution activities to ensure compliance with\neducation mandates in order to avoid possible litigation by resolving\noperational conflicts, as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31. &nbsp;Assists the Principal in planning and\nconducting assembly\/graduation and\/or other programs to disseminate\ninformation, recognize achievement, utilizing organizational and motivational\ntechniques, knowledges, experience, etc., as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>32. &nbsp;Monitors the ordering and tracking of\nequipment, instructional materials and supplies through the procurement process\nto facilitate the operation of educational programs utilizing the Business\nInformation System (BIS), and the procurement process, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>33. &nbsp;Monitors inventory (e.g., equipment,\ninstructional materials, supplies, etc.) for grant requirements and to\nfacilitate the operation of educational programs utilizing the procurement\nprocess, local databases, and classroom inventories, as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>34. &nbsp;Assists staff in the implementing regular and\nalternative education programs utilizing direct instruction, correspondence\ncoursework, institutional television distribution, as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>35. &nbsp;Collaborates with institutional management\nstaff teams to ensure that students have access to educational programs in\norder to meet Federal and State laws, court mandates, by monitoring student\nattendance tracking systems on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>36. &nbsp;Assists in managing personnel and fiscal\nresources to ensure program needs are met (e.g., personnel years, vacation and\nsick leave usage, utilization of space, equipment, expenditures, etc.)\nutilizing expenditure tracking, position control, Strategic\/Master Plan, etc.,\non an on-going basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>37. &nbsp;Serves as the administrator at various student\ncentered meetings (e.g., Student Consultation Team, Individual Education Plan,\nLanguage Assessment Team, etc.) to ensure the regular and special needs of\nstudents are met utilizing professional knowledge, interpersonal communication\nskills, knowledge of regulations and procedures, etc. on an on-going basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2
