matter meaningful, and to guide all students\nin assessing their own learning utilizing cultural awareness, interpersonal\nskills, communication skills, institutional resources, etc. per Penal Code\n2053.1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. &nbsp;Conducts assessment and testing for inmate\nstudents to ensure proper placement within an educational program using a\nvariety of testing instruments (i.e., Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE),\nComprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS), Pre-GED, ETC.) per the\nWorkforce Investment Act and Prisoner Literacy Act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. &nbsp;Supervises the conduct of the inmate students\nwhile in the classroom on an on-going basis in order to ensure that control and\ndiscipline are upheld per California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 15,\nutilizing communication skills, knowledge of progressive disciplinary methods,\nclassroom management skills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. &nbsp;Coordinates the planning, assigning, and\nsupervising of inmate students\u2019 adult basic education coursework in order to\nprovide them with a total education and training program per Departmental\nOperations Manual (DOM) and PC 2053.1 utilizing time management skills, organizational\nskills, communication skills, interacting with inmate students, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. &nbsp;On a daily basis monitors all classroom\nsupplies, materials and equipment to ensure against loss, misuse, and the\npotential use as a weapon per DOM, utilizing observation skills, organizational\nskills, classroom management skills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. &nbsp;Prepares course of study and daily lesson\nplans for inmate students utilizing the approved California Department of\nCorrections (CDC) Competency Based Curriculum, for both individual and group\ninstruction, various teaching methodologies, classroom management skills, etc.\nin order to fulfill educational mandates per the direction of Education and\nInmate Programs Unit (EIPU), and PC 2053.1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. &nbsp;Collaborates with outside agencies and\ncommunity\/institutional resources (i.e., Parole, Department of Rehabilitation,\nEmployment Development Department, Private Industry Council, Social Security\nDepartment, and the Department of Motor Vehicles) to provide support materials\nand resources, utilizing communication skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge,\norganizational skills, the approved CDC Competency Based Curriculum etc. per\nthe DOM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. &nbsp;Modifies an individual inmate student\u2019s basic\ncourse of study to address individual inmate student needs, and to create a\npositive learning environment using the students\u2019 assessment data, teacher\nobservation, reviewing daily assignments, etc. on a continuing basis per the\napproved CDC Competency Based Curriculum and PC 2053.1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. &nbsp;Counsels inmate students as to their progress\nin their assigned instructional program in order to meet their educational\ngoals and objectives using the approved CDC Competency Based Curriculum, DOM,\ncommunication skills, subject matter knowledge, motivational skills, etc. on an\nas needed basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. &nbsp;Participates in educational program evaluation\nas part of a educational departmental team for the purpose of determining the\nefficacy, updated curriculum, accreditation, etc. of the school site on at\nleast a quarterly basis using the Combined Compliance Review, PC 2053.1,\nsubject matter expertise, knowledge, assessment data of the inmate students,\netc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. &nbsp;Participates in extracurricular educational\nprograms (i.e., literacy programs, graduation ceremony, committees,\nrecreational activities, etc.) designed for inmate students in order to support\nand enhance existing programs as needed, utilizing subject matter expertise,\nknowledge, assessment data of the inmate students, communication skills,\ninterpersonal skills, etc. per PC 2053.1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. &nbsp;Maintains security of institutional locks,\npadlocks, and keys while in the classroom and on institutional grounds in order\nto prevent escapes and injury to inmate students and others and the destruction\nof property utilizing various resources (i.e., DOM, laws, rules, regulations,\netc.) on a continuous basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13. &nbsp;Obtains price estimates for ordering all\nsupplies, equipment, and materials essential to the instruction, operation, and\nmaintenance of the classroom and curriculum in order to complete the purchase\norder CDC Form 954 on an annual basis utilizing communication skills,\norganizational skills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14. &nbsp;Conducts monthly safety lessons for inmate\nstudents and clerks utilizing various resources (i.e., SB 198, communication\nskills, training materials, knowledge, etc.) in accordance with SB 198 and the\nInjury and Illness Prevention Program to ensure a safe and healthy work\nenvironment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15. &nbsp;As needed, acts as a teacher in other\nspecialties based upon departmental need on a temporary and\/or fulltime basis\nusing CDC approved Competency Based Curriculum, organizational skills,\ncommunication skills, time management skills, collaborative skills, etc. to\nensure a continuous educational programming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>16. &nbsp;Participates as member of an interdisciplinary\ntreatment team (i.e., custody, academic, vocational, psychiatric, and casework\npersonnel, etc.) to fulfill court mandates and specialized treatment requirements\nper DOM, various court cases, institutional mission, etc.) on an as needed\nbasis utilizing subject matter expertise, observational skills, collaborative\nskills, writing skills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17. &nbsp;Expands daily lesson plans to include the\nacademic CDC approved Competency Based Curriculum for employability and life\nskills (e.g., anger management, parenting, healthful living, and substance\nabuse, etc.) in order to prepare students for parole utilizing subject matter,\nknowledge of community\/institutional resources, research skills, communication\nskills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18. &nbsp;Provides assistance to inmate students in\ndeveloping a Personal Plan for Incarceration upon entry and for writing a\nPersonal Life Plan prior to parole using the Re-Entry\/Bridging Program, the\napproved CDC Competency Based Curriculum, knowledge of curriculum, educational\nprograms, communication skills, writing skills, etc. on a continuous basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19. &nbsp;On a daily basis supervises inmate clerks and\naides to facilitate the distribution of classroom supplies and materials, to\nprovide peer tutoring, and to ensure various clerical support for the teachers\nutilizing DOM, Work Incentive, CCR Title 15, organizational skills,\ncommunication skills, observation skills, knowledge of teaching methodology,\nknowledge of classroom management skills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20. &nbsp;On a daily basis manages inmate student\nrecords\/timekeeping documents (e.g., Inmate Progress Report (CDC 128E),\nPermanent Class Records (CDC 151), Work Supervisor\u2019s Time Logs (CDC 1697)) to\naccount for student participation in an educational assignment and to ensure\ncompliance with Inmate Work Training Incentive Program (IWTIP) utilizing\norganizational skills, time management skills, knowledge of CDC forms, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21. &nbsp;Prepares various reports (i.e., Monthly,\nQuarterly, Literacy, Federal Grant, Re-Entry, progressive discipline\ndocumentation, etc.) as required by the CDC, EIPU, and institutional management\nto obtain and\/or provide statistical information and to complete reports for\nvarious agencies regarding program efficacy per DOM utilizing research skills,\nanalytical skills, organizational skills, computer skills, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22. &nbsp;Participates in training workshops,\nconferences, In-Service Training, faculty meetings, and seminars in order to\nremain current on new developments in the program and teaching techniques and\ncontinuing professional daily for contraband, weapons and illegal drugs to ensure a safe and secure environment using various accountability tools (i.e., inspection logs, sign-in and sign out sheets, custody assistance,
