Including People Experiencing Homelessness in Disaster Preparedness: Lessons Leaned from a Local Community Webinar

Description: The webinar will feature experts from Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless sharing insight on emergency and disaster planning to meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness. Participants will learn about practices and tools the county utilizes to increase cross-system collaboration and partnership.  Additionally, the document Disaster Planning and Response: A Guide to Preparation for Homelessness Response Programs, established by SAMHSA, provides key considerations homelessness leaders and planners should consider when preparing for and responding to emergencies and natural disasters. The guide emphasizes the needs of people experiencing homelessness who may also be experiencing a serious mental illness, substance abuse disorder, or co-occurring disorders.
