Brie Williams

Dr. Brie Williams, MD, MS is a Professor of Medicine at the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations, with specialty training in internal medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care.

Dr. Williams’ work focuses on improving the health and wellbeing of people who live or work in prisons through international educational experiences with public health-focused prison systems; supporting prison systems to reduce the use of isolation through evidence-based approaches; improving compassionate release policies for incarcerated patients with serious illness; and enhancing the response to disability, dementia, and serious illness in prison settings.

As Director of Amend at UCSF, Dr. Williams collaborates with international partners to bring public health and dignity-driven practices to U.S. prisons.
