Leading by example, acting Warden Ron Godwin rolled up his sleeve to donate blood at the 20th Annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive at Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP).

In cooperation with the Central California Blood Center (CCBC), the event was well attended and very successful.

Emmanuel Ochoa, Account Executive from the blood center, said response was great.

“We registered a total of 44 donors and walked away with 36 units of blood,” Ochoa said.

PVSP staff, many of whom were first time donors, received donated meal vouchers from Kentucky Fried Chicken and thank-you gifts from the blood center.

During the continuing campaign, any PVSP staff who missed the event can register with blood center for the event. This allows them to donate blood to count toward the Battle of the Badges PVSP total.
