Compromise Settlement Reached

The California Department of Corrections (CDC) and five cities operating community correctional facilities authorized by Senate Bill 1591 have negotiated a settlement of all outstanding issues arising from a dispute over budget reductions in Fiscal Year 1992-93.

Corrections Director C.A. “Cal” Terhune and the Mayors of each city agree the compromise marks the end of a difficult period. The settlement puts the partnership back on track to the benefit of taxpayers and has significantly improved and helped to restore relationships between the Department of Corrections and the involved cities. The settlement and awards are viewed as a first step to further negotiations that will be mutually beneficial to all parties.

The settlement provides payments to Adelanto ($1,983,529), Delano (2,038,906), Folsom ($1,817,626), Shafter ($2,071,060), and Taft ($2,232,316.39). The amount to Taft includes court costs.
