Offender Walks Away from San Diego Re-entry Program

San Diego — California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are looking for Quincy Crawford, 24, who walked away from the Male Community Re-entry Program (MCRP) facility in San Diego on Thursday, August 3, 2017.

An emergency search was conducted after being notified at approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon that Crawford’s GPS device had been tampered with around the same time that he had been last seen exiting the MCRP facility on an approved pass to attend college courses. The GPS device was found in a parking lot near a garbage receptacle at a fast food restaurant.

Notification was immediately made to local law enforcement agencies. Within minutes, agents from CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety were dispatched to locate and apprehend Crawford.

Crawford is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 171 pounds. He was received by CDCR from San Diego County in January 2015 with a six year sentence for two counts burglary in the first degree and pimping as a second striker. Crawford was transferred to the MCRP in San Diego in May. He was scheduled to be released to probation in April 2018.

Anyone who sees Crawford or has any knowledge of his whereabouts should immediately contact law enforcement or call 911.

The MCRP allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for male offenders who have approximately one year left to serve. The program links offenders to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
