{"id":29140,"date":"2021-12-15T23:02:49","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T23:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/?post_type=dom&#038;p=29140"},"modified":"2026-05-21T23:42:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T23:42:41","slug":"54030-11-1-disallowance-of-health-care-appliances","status":"publish","type":"dom","link":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/dom\/chapter-5-adult-custody-and-security-operations\/article-43-inmate-property\/54030-11-1-disallowance-of-health-care-appliances\/","title":{"rendered":"54030.10.1 Disallowance of Health Care Appliances"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Following review or inspection of a health care appliance, should a custody supervisor determine that a significant safety or security concern appears to exist, the institution Health Care Manager, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Physician and Surgeon, Chief Dentist, Correctional Health Services Administrator, Physician on Call, or Medical Officer of the Day shall be consulted immediately to determine actions required to safely accommodate the affected incarcerated person\u2019s needs. Accommodation appropriate to the safety and security of the institution may include, but should not be considered limited to:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Modification of the appliance. If this alternative is chosen, equivalent, effective, alternative accommodation shall be provided the incarcerated person while the original appliance is being modified.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Replacement of the appliance with an acceptable one. If this alternative is chosen, equivalent, effective, alternative accommodation shall be provided the incarcerated person while the alternate appliance is being procured.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Special housing.
