{"id":34763,"date":"2026-03-06T21:55:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T21:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/?post_type=dom&#038;p=34763"},"modified":"2026-03-06T21:55:57","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T21:55:57","slug":"46030-5-it-equipment-ownership-and-inventory-redirection","status":"publish","type":"dom","link":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/dom\/chapter-4-information-technology\/article-24-edp-equipment-inventory\/46030-5-it-equipment-ownership-and-inventory-redirection\/","title":{"rendered":"46030.5 IT Equipment Ownership and Inventory Redirection"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>IT equipment purchased for use within the department&#8217;s EIS IT services is a CDCR asset, not owned by the individual division, unit, or project that funded the purchase.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Exceptions include:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Equipment participating in non-routed communication and attached to the CDCR network. Examples of these types of equipment are networked printers and scanners, security cameras, et. cetera.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Equipment tied to State or Federal funding that requires the asset to be used exclusively for a one-time purpose.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>When a reorganization occurs or a project is cancelled or completed, all the IT equipment utilized is entered into the CDCR general EIS IT inventory.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The CDCR division responsible for the unit or project will be given first right of refusal to select new placement of the recovered equipment if there is an immediate use case for its redeployment.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Redeployment of IT equipment is not always necessary or possible, and therefore not guaranteed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Facility infrastructure services such as electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, fixed uninterruptible power supplies, and plant IT infrastructure (e.g. plant fiber optics, plant copper data cables) installation costs cannot be recouped (exceptions may exist with certain contracts).
