{"id":8589,"date":"2020-03-31T09:24:37","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T16:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdcr.test\/dom\/chapter-3-personnel-training-and-employee-relations\/article-18-general-training\/32010-19-1-weapons-qualification\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T18:12:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T18:12:06","slug":"32010-19-1-weapons-qualification","status":"publish","type":"dom","link":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/dom\/chapter-3-personnel-training-and-employee-relations\/article-18-general-training\/32010-19-1-weapons-qualification\/","title":{"rendered":"32010.20.1 Weapons Qualification"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>At the discretion of the hiring authority, all personnel subject to PC section 832 training, and other designated officials requiring such training, shall successfully complete the weapons qualifications course mandated at the specific academy attended.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Standards shall meet PC, department policy, and job-related requirements.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Penal Code (PC) Section 832 Training<\/strong><br>Every appointed peace officer shall:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Complete training required by PC section 832 prior to exercising peace officer powers.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Trainees shall complete the required Firearms qualification course with a minimum score of 80 percent on the handgun, pass the Arrest and Control Techniques course, and pass the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) PC section 832 written exam with a minimum score of 75 percent.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>One retest is authorized.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Failure on the retest shall result in the employee being returned to the sending facility without PC section 832 certification.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The employee may attempt to again qualify by returning to PC section 832 training and repeat the course that was failed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Failure to successfully complete the course shall result in the termination of that appointment within the peace officer classification.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>PC subsection 832(e) requires individuals who previously completed a PC section 832 course to re-qualify prior to exercising peace officer powers, if they have a 36 months or more break in service as a peace officer within the state of California.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t","protected":false},"parent":8559,"template":"","class_list":["post-8589","dom","type-dom","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
