{"id":8720,"date":"2020-03-31T09:24:42","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T16:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdcr.test\/dom\/chapter-3-personnel-training-and-employee-relations\/article-21-uniforms-employee-grooming-standards\/33020-6-1-correctional-peace-officer-grooming-standards\/"},"modified":"2023-06-02T18:17:12","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T18:17:12","slug":"33020-6-1-correctional-peace-officer-grooming-standards","status":"publish","type":"dom","link":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/dom\/chapter-3-personnel-training-and-employee-relations\/article-21-uniforms-employee-grooming-standards\/33020-6-1-correctional-peace-officer-grooming-standards\/","title":{"rendered":"33020.6.1 Correctional Peace Officer Grooming Standards"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The following minimum guidelines are adopted for all Correctional Peace Officers, regardless of work location, except those exempted pursuant to DOM section 33020.6.2, Exemptions for Peace Officer Classifications.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Hair<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Hair shall not be styled or combed forward any lower on the forehead than the eyebrow, measured from the high point of the eyebrow, and shall not be visible on the forehead when the uniform hat is worn.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Hair style and length shall not impede, restrict, or detract from the proper wearing of the uniform hat, or create a safety hazard in the work area.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Employee\u2019s hair shall not extend below the bottom of the collar. If the hair is long, it shall be worn up in a neat style. No decorations in the hair are permitted.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Facial Hair<\/strong><br>Facial hair shall be in compliance with the requirements of DOM section 31020.9.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Fingernails<\/strong><br>Fingernails shall not extend more than \u00bc inch beyond the tips of the fingers. Nails shall be neat and clean. Fingernail polish is permitted. No nail jewelry or designs on the nails are allowed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\t<\/ul>\n\t\n\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Cosmetics<\/strong><br>Employees may wear cosmetics that blend with or match the natural skin tone of the employee. False eyelashes are not permitted.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Jewelry<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>A total of two rings may be worn on the fingers. A set of wedding and engagement rings shall be considered one ring.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Only medical alert bracelets may be worn.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Neck chains or necklaces shall not be permitted while on duty except for religious medals that may be worn if covered by the uniform shirt. Medical alert medals may also be worn on a chain. However, no more than one chain shall be worn.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Employees shall not wear rings, stud earrings, other jewelry decorations, or ornaments on or in the nose or tongue while in uniform. Additionally, there shall be no jewels, ornaments, rings, or studs worn on the face.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Employees may wear simple stud-type earrings only. Only one matching earring shall be worn in each earlobe.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\n\n\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Wristwatches may be worn. Watches worn on chains or pinned to the uniform are not permitted. Pocket watches are allowed without a chain or lanyard. Wristwatches with electronic communication capabilities, also referred to as wearable technology, smart devices, or smartwatches, shall not be used to send or receive electronic messages or make or receive telephone calls inside the secured perimeter of an institution.
