{"id":9300,"date":"2020-03-31T16:06:12","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T23:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdcr.test\/dom\/chapter-4-information-technology\/article-45-information-security\/49020-8-3-protecting-against-external-and-environmental-threats\/"},"modified":"2020-03-31T16:06:12","modified_gmt":"2020-03-31T23:06:12","slug":"49020-8-3-protecting-against-external-and-environmental-threats","status":"publish","type":"dom","link":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/operations-manual\/dom\/chapter-4-information-technology\/article-45-information-security\/49020-8-3-protecting-against-external-and-environmental-threats\/","title":{"rendered":"49020.8.3 Protecting Against External and Environmental Threats"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Consideration shall be given to any security threats presented by neighboring premises, e.g. a fire in a neighboring building, water leaking from the roof or in floors below ground level or an explosion in the street.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The following guidelines should be considered to avoid damage from the fire, flood, earthquake, explosion, civil unrest, and other forms of natural or man-made disaster:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Hazardous or combustible materials should be stored at a safe distance from a secure area. Bulk supplies such as stationary should not be store within a secure area;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Fallback equipment and back-up media should be sited at a safe distance to avoid damage from a disaster affecting the main site;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Appropriate firefighting equipment should be provided and suitably placed.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Working in Secure Areas<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"cdcr-dom-group-block\">\n\t\t\t<li class=\"cdcr-dom-item-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Physical protection and guidelines for working in secured areas shall be applied.
