{"id":15815,"date":"2023-03-30T10:05:51","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T17:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/parole\/?p=15815"},"modified":"2025-09-19T11:37:39","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T18:37:39","slug":"mental-health-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/parole\/2023\/03\/30\/mental-health-treatment\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental Health Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BEHAVIORAL HEALTH REINTEGRATION (BHR)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is BHR?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A first line resource of clinical case management support available to individuals leaving prison and entering parole supervision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Immediate work toward establishing linkages to community resources that can remain available even after parole supervision ends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dedicated time to develop an Individualized Reintegration Plan (IRP) to focus on the specific needs and amount\/type of support needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focused on encouraging and enhancing self-sufficiency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Available resource throughout the duration of parole.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gap resource if pre-release or post-release linkages dissolve and support services are needed while reengaging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assistance with a broad range of re-entry support needs such as facilitating the immediate and sustainable access to:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clothing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Shelter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Medical\/mental health care linkages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Brief clinical and family systems support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Transitional psychiatric medication management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Substance use intervention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Crisis intervention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) assessments, linkages, possibility of transitional care from BHR psychiatrist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opiate maintenance therapy (Suboxone, Methadone) is not prescribed by BHR psychiatrists<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WHO\/WHERE is BHR?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>BHR consists of social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists who have the<br>specialized understanding re-entry needs including management of parole conditions<br>and other associated stressors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BHR offices are located in each parole complex<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BHR staff have collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders<br>to best facilitate transitional care needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HOW is BHR available?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Referrals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automatic pre-release referral to BHR if CCCMS or EOP while incarcerated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will meet with BHR when report to parole office after release<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-referral to BHR post-release by request from assigned agent of record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agent of record referral. Session Type:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In office (face to face) are preferred method<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When appropriate and device to do:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Video Sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Telephone Sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medical Records Requests:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For records related to Mental Health Services provided to supervised persons, please submit a<br>completed Authorization for Release of Protected Health Information <a href=\"https:\/\/cdcr.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/r\/sites\/cdcr_hub\/Documents\/CDCR%207385%20-%20AUTHORIZATION%20FOR%20RELEASE%20OF%20PROTECTED%20HEALTH%20INFORMATION.pdf?csf=1&web=1&e=7oEhiE\">CDCR 7385<\/a> using one of<br>the following methods, listed in order of preference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Email (preferred for fastest processing \u2013 all regions):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Send the Release of Information (ROI) to: m_BHRRecordRequests@cdcr.ca.gov.<br>Note: This e-mail address is for medical records requests only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fax (all regions):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">(279) 223-7909<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mail (choose the appropriate regional address):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Division of Adult Parole Headquarters \u2013 Northern Region<br>Attention: HQ-BHR<br>9838 Old Placerville Road Suite B <br>Sacramento, CA 98527<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Division of Adult Parole Headquarters \u2013 Southern Region<br>Attention: HQ-BHR<br>21015 Pathfinder Rd.
