Applicants should plan accordingly and ensure they are available for the duration of the event. Please note: <strong><em>Cell phones are not permitted in the testing area, which should remain locked in your vehicle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants are encouraged to prepare for the PFT by engaging in regular physical activity such as cardiovascular conditioning, strength training and stretching exercises six to twelve weeks before participating in the PFT. The waiver of the CDCR PFT is solely for the selection process and does not apply to the Basic Correctional Officer Academy (BCOA) physical testing requirements. Visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdcr.ca.gov\/por\/veterans\/\">Military and Veteran Applicants<\/a> page for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity is-style-default\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-green-600-background-color has-background\" style=\"font-size:20px\">What else occurs in conjunction with the PFT event?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After successfully completing the PFT, applicants will attend an informational presentation conducted by field training sergeants that provides an overview of correctional officer training, benefits, and career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will then complete their Live Scan fingerprinting on site or at a nearby facility, as part of the background process.
