Basic Peace Officer Institute Academies provides training to prepare cadets for a career as a Correctional Officer or Parole Agent. Classes range from 6 – 16 weeks.

Range and Tactical courses focus on the safety, maintaining and repair of State owned weapons. Employees receive knowledge of penal codes related to carrying an off-duty firearm, as well as the California gun laws and range safety rules.
