Before heading to an institution for an in-person visit, download the Quick Map app or visit https:\/\/quickmap.dot.ca.gov\/ for up-to-the-minute information on road conditions, traffic, closures, chain control, and more.<br>If an institution must cancel visiting due to conditions such as weather, those with an appointment will receive a notice through the Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA). If you plan on participating in a walk-in visit, please contact the institution beforehand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parking is limited, so plan accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-green-600-color has-green-200-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-a60ce43faa50baeeb73f934c2b4b1bac\">Visitation Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visiting staff will begin processing at 12:00 p.m. on Fridays & 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are two visiting areas: <em>Mainline and H-Unit<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mainline visitors, after processing, must walk to the visiting rooms by following the yellow line on the sidewalk (ADA accommodations are available to those with a documented need for special transportation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a new vender for the vending machines in the Visiting Rooms. In general, there are four rules to remember:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"1-do-not-wear-clothing-that-resembles-the-clothing-that-prisoners-wear\"><strong>1. Clothing that resembles state-issued clothing that an incarcerated person wears to visiting (examples: blue denim or blue chambray shirts and blue denim pants, reception center attire).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"2-do-not-wear-clothing-that-resembles-what-custodial-staff-wear\"><strong>2. Clothing that resembles law enforcement or military-type clothing, including raingear, when not legitimately worn by an individual on active duty or in an official capacity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"3-dress-conservatively-and-modestly-and\"><strong>3. Dress conservatively and modestly; and<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"4-do-not-wear-any-item-that-cannot-be-taken-off-and-will-not-clear-a-metal-detector-such-as-an-underwire-bra-or-clothing-with-metal-buttons-there-are-specific-restrictions\"><strong>4. Do not wear any item that cannot be taken off and will not clear a metal detector (such as an underwire bra or clothing with metal buttons). There are specific restrictions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No strapless, halter, bare midriff, sheer, or transparent clothing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No skirts, dresses, or shorts that expose more than two inches above the knee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No clothing that exposes the breast, genitalia, or buttocks area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No very tight, form-fitting attire; No spandex material (i.e., leggings, yoga pants, biker shorts, body-con dresses) including Leather pants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No wigs, hairpieces, extensions, or other headpieces except for medical reasons and with prior approval.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No hats or gloves, except with prior approval or in inclement weather; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No shower shoes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shirts SHALL be worn under all sweatshirts, hoodies, and or jackets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No layered clothing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If clothing is rejected by staff, the Visitor Center will lend you used but clean clothing. It is good practice to bring an extra set of clothing in the car in case you need to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although a minor must clear the metal detector, children under 36 inches are not subject to the restrictions related to colors of clothing or types of material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-green-600-color has-green-400-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-a6d440d49ceb29ea64632c16f9dd55c1\">Items a Visitor May Bring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitors are strictly limited in the items they may bring into the prison. Items allowed without prior approval are limited to the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A $100 limit per adult and $50 limit per minor; only as dollar bills, dollar coins and quarters (change machines are usually available but they may be out of order or out of change);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A small (generally 6\u201d by 8\u201d) clear, plastic purse or bag;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two keys on a ring with no other attachments. One key may be an electronic car keys;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identification (as previously specified);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A comb or brush; non-metallic, no pointed end or detachable parts;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A small unopened pack of tissues or a handkerchief; no bandannas;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pair of prescription glasses;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ten Photographs, no larger than 8\u201d by 10\u201d; photos may be shown to the prisoner, but must be taken out by the visitor at the end of the visit; photos cannot be Polaroid and may not include any sexual or gang images; photos will be viewed by staff during processing;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documents up to 10 pages, no larger than 8-1\/2\u201d by 11\u201d (standard size typing paper); usually such documents will be either papers for the prisoner\u2019s signature (for example, tax forms), information to share with the prisoner (for example, pages showing classes available through a correspondence course), or family papers (for example, a child\u2019s report card, certificate of achievement, or drawing), but they can be anything that can be sent to the prisoner through the mail. Documents will be viewed and read by staff during processing and must be taken out by the visitor at the end of the visit;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inclement weather gear that may include hoods, raincoats, hats, scarves, and gloves during the winter or sun hats during the summer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-93b5878bf99a4d2837b5beb644c437e5\" style=\"text-transform:none\"><mark style=\"background-color:#d8e2d3\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><strong><em>Visiting with Children<\/em><\/strong> <\/mark><br>The following baby items are allowed when bringing in an infant or toddler: <br>\u2014 any combination of two factory-sealed single serving size, ready to feed bottles of baby formula or two transparent plastic baby bottles either empty or containing pre-mixed formula\/milk\/juice\/water; three non-glass containers of baby food in sealed packaging; one plastic spoon; six disposable diapers; one sealed package of baby wipes; one change of clothing; one small blanket; two searchable small toys; one transparent pacifier; one burp cloth; baby carrier; and clear plastic diaper bag (12\u201d by 20\u201d)<br>\u2014 Birth Certificate in its original form shall be brought with the visitor every time the child is present for the visit. There are signs in the waiting area directing walk-in visitors to form a line while waiting. The Infirmary and Adjustment center do not allow walk-ins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Walk-In Processing Time:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friday: 2:30 p.m. \u2013 5:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-green-600-color has-gold-400-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-a0081a7a64ee24f4343b9f0ee2341a54 wp-block-paragraph\">LONG DISTANCE VISITS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, long distance accommodations are bookable for three uninterrupted days,\u00a0<em>e.g.<\/em>, Friday Saturday, and Sunday.<br>Visitors residing out of California, or more than 250 miles from San Quentin, may schedule a visiting appointment by emailing the San Quentin Visiting Team at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:sqvideovisiting@cdcr.ca.gov\"><strong>sqvideovisiting@cdcr.ca.gov<\/strong><\/a>.<br>Visitors shall submit their accommodation request at least 30 calendar days (or more) in advance from their intended date\u2014the visiting scheduler will automatically deny requests for dates 29 calendar days (or less) from the planned visiting date.<br>The San Quentin Visiting Department defines extended (long distance) visits as\u00a0<strong><u>the ability to book a timeslots for three uninterrupted days within the same weekend\u2014once per month.<\/u><\/strong><br>       <mark
