About CDCR

Office of Legislation

The Office of Legislation provides executive policy advice and assistance on matters impacting the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.  The Office of Legislation develops and sponsors legislation on behalf of the CDCR, monitors bills of departmental interest, prepares bill analyses, represents the department on legislative matters, responds to inquiries from State and federal legislators, tracks the department’s legislative reports, coordinates inquiries arising from legislative concerns, and completes the State’s annual State Criminal Alien Assistance Program federal grant application.  The office of legislation also directs the State Senate confirmation process of the department’s personnel.
